DH and I are going to have a long weekend break without our two children before no.3 arrives early next year, and we want to go in the next few weeks before Christmas.
Just before we had children, we had a week in Paris which was fab, lots of shop browsing and hot chocolate stops, nice food, bit of culture.
We want to do the same again, but were considering somewhere else instead of repeating Paris, and were thinking maybe Prague (cheap deals available but not been before), Oslo or perhaps Copenhagen (I've already spent a bit of time in Stockholm and Helsinki so somewhere new would be fun), or elsewhere - do you have any recommendations or suggestions?
Budget is as little as possible, we'd rather spend our money on food, gift shopping and exploring when we get there than lots on travel or accommodation.
We went to Prague just before Christmas a couple of years ago and it was perfect. It was -12 and there was snow on the ground but it was dry and even sunny. Lots of places for drinking hot chocolate or mulled wine, lots of little Christmas market stalls scattered around selling lovely warm breads and cakes etc. Walk up to the observation tower and have Viennese coffee and gorgeous honey cake. Go to the castle. I totally recommend it.
But will now lurk on here to steal other ideas!
Munich? Beautiful city and lovely christmas market. Not the cheapest city, though.
Bruges also fabulous, and v romantic

Ok, Prague does sound lovely, will check out travel costs - thanks.
Been to Bruges before in the winter, I remember hot chocolate and skating and waffles, very nice!
