Paris - recommendations needed

We are off to Paris next year with another couple, and I am looking for some recommendations of hotels/apartments as friends have given nothing but mixed reviews.. I did a search of the talk archive bit couldn't find much that didn't involve children (we aren't taking any!).

There will be 4 of us, and we have rather different budgets/needs. DP and I prefer luxury and comfort and are willing to spend a little more, friend and his wife prefer cheap and cheerful.

None of us are rich.

It's a 4 night stay in September, over a weekend, and we wouldn't want to spend more than £600 on accommodation (for DP and I). Friend and wife looking to spend less.

We're hoping to find somewhere with cheap rooms and more pricey rooms to please us all. Or cheap luxury grin

Any help/advice/recommendations would be wonderfully appreciated.

I have stayed here and loved it. Maybe more for your friends though, Parisenne on the cheap. We had breakfasts in the patissieres nearby and walked everywhere. Its especially useful if travelling Ryanair as is easy walking disance from bus stop.

That one looks interesting, thank you. Will look into it. Very interested in the fact is has cheaper and more expensive rooms, that would be ideal for us.

All further suggestions very welcome.

When I went with my friend we stopped in the ibis, recommended by my boss. Not luxury but clean and cheap and very good location next to a metro stop.

We stayed here on the Left Bank. Apartments of various sizes. 5 mins to St Germain and the river.

Citadines.com is another idea....

Thanks portofino.

Those prince regent ones are lovely but a little too pricey - the cheapest room coming in at £790.

Have been warned of citadines, they've had some scamming allegations.
