What goes with tweed?!

We are just planning our wedding now, my OH is thinking of a tweed suit. My bridesmaid will be in blush pink but i am really struggling to think what to put the best man, my dad and my 2 almost teen boys in. I was thinking tweed waistcoats to tie in but what colour suit? And ties? Apparently my idea of ditching tweed for grey suits is not to be talked about Grin oh and our flower girl will be in Ivory, as will I probably, I haven't picked my dress yet! Also, if anyone knows of any lace sleeved, high back, ball gown dresses for about £1500 that would be lovely too. Many thanks :)

My DH wore tweed and a burgundy red tie- matching ties only for our fathers and brothers (they were sensible and avoided tweed in the summer!). Was nice as it was clear they were part of the wedding without tweed overload.
Mustard yellow would have also looked fab, or a pale blue.
All depends on the tweed really as they have different colours woven through!
Sorry I can't help on the dress. Mine was a bargain from a sample/sale shop!

Thank you for your replies! So he has decided he's wearing this, in the 3 piece suit. He wants the men to wear just the waistcoat and black trousers but I'm not sure black will go? I think they need the matching trousers without the jacket or at least chinos. What do you think?

I agree- don't think that would suit black. Smart brown trousers maybe, if they exist and don't look grandad-ish? Or chinos if good quality ones and it's a casual enough affair? It's lovely Btw :-)

Chinos and a white shirt with a matching waistcoat.

We had a tweed wedding. I wore a dress that had a fine detailed neck line and a sort of see though mesh over the shoulder. My husband had a made to measure 3 piece tweed suit made by victor valentine- have a Google- they do a lot of suits for the bbc. The best man and the rest of the grooms party had a matching waistcoat, blue chinos, brougues and ivory shirts, we went with wooden ties in a soft gold to match the shirts. My bridesmaids worn a phase eight egg shell blue dress with large flowers over print. All had matching button holes, in a country flowers-see the florist great British florist.

I would say, black won't go, it will need to be softer in colour. Also with tweed never put white with it, it washes it out and doesn't look crisp. If you want to pm and add me to Facebook you can have a look our photos and see what you think.

Tweedaddict that would be great, I'll work out the pm function shortly! I never thought of Ivory shirts but I guess that makes sense. My bridesmaid was going to be in blush but I was also looking at teal colours, we are having vintage birdcages as centrepieces with flowers and mini birdcage cakes so I want a lightish colour. I had seen blue trousers with a lot of them I just think my dad would look stupid in them! And chinos for that matter I would have had to find brown ones for him! Your dress sounds lovely, I am very much stuck to sleeves and high back due to very prominent tattoos I want to cover slightly. I never thought I would overthink an outfit so much, weddings turn you a bit crazy.

OH is wearing a grey tweed suit for our wedding. The ushers are wearing grey suits with a tweed waistcoat that matches OH's suit. The fathers are picking their own suits but will be wearing grey as well. My bridesmaids are wearing burgundy so I will probably have OH and the ushers wear a matching tie.

I originally tried to steer nine towards grey tweed, but he is a shooting country bumpkin, and knows what he likes. In fairness he looks good in it, and we are getting married in a country house so it will fit in nicely.

We did this, navy blue chinos, white shirt, tweed jacket with runs of navy through and navy blue fleur de li(????) ties.
Bridesmaid chose their own navy blue dresses.
Obviously I'm biased but it looked the absolute dogs bollocks! I still love that we chose tweed instead of the more traditional suits Smile
