Went away to Las Vegas last week for a trip and on the last day my DP proposed in a gorgeous restaurant out on the Patio at the Bellagio overlooking the dancing fountains. He had the waiters in on it and timed it with them to happen as the fountains started up again, so one had his phone to take photos as he did it and the other bought out champagne, everyone in the restaurant was clapping us and he proposed with the most gorgeous simple Tiffany Emerald cut diamond which is stunning. Just the perfect proposal, and am so excited to begin wedding planning now! Grin
Sorry just had to share as am very excited! Anyone have any proposal stories to share?

I got engaged two months ago.

It was during a walk around the grounds of a hotel which we visit quite often & where we had our first date.

Stopped by the lake infront of the castle where the OH got down on one knee Smile much to my surprise! was lovely! Just us two around for miles as I would have died had it been in public haha.

We have been to Vegas and can picture where you mean, sounds fab! Any thoughts on weddings yet? X

That sounds lovely! The fact you had your first date there makes it so special :)
Have you thought about weddings yet?
We're definitely getting married abroad, at the moment Barbados is the front runner although we're looking at Mexico too. Deffo want a beach wedding and family are welcome, I don't want the stress and drama of a big uk wedding or the expense to be honest, we like the idea of mixing the wedding with our honeymoon. Smile

Oh that sounds fab! Have you been to either before?

We're thinking the same about abroad- a big uk wedding is not for us. We might even elope and have a party for family when we get back.

Taken a little backseat at the moment until the deposit is there, hoping to book by end of summer. Thinking Italy is a main runner or potentially Mauritius Smile

Ive been to St lucia and DP has been to Antigua, so we both have experienced Caribbean, and i know alot of friends who have been to playa carmen and riviera maya in mexico and loved it. Neither of us have been ourselves though as we wanted somewhere new to both of us for our wedding.

I did have a look at Italy around the Amalfi coast and Lake Como, and Santorini in Greece, mainly as it would be affordable for more family, but the fact is its our day and we shouldnt be compromising on place to suit our guests as thats the exact reason we dont want big UK wedding!! So we keep going back to the Caribbean destinations so think thats where we'll end up! We think only around 10 people will join us so were debating an evening party to celebrate with people on our return too as people like our grandparents i know will be gutted they cant be there so a celebration would mean alot to them.
Maritius looks stunning, i flew to the USA on business last year and sat next to a guy from there who was telling me what a stunning island it is and that i should definitely visit!

Ah yes sounds like s good shout for you then!

We went to santorini last year and have friends who are marrying there this year.! Was lovely but same as you thinking somewhere new for us as our wedding destination.

I keep changing my mind all the time to be honest, we've been quite a few places but also have loads more we want to visit & if we do elope then the choices are even wider.

Be exciting to get a place booked & start looking at dresses! Grin

i agree!! Im slightly obsessed with that 'Say yes to the dress' show at the moment, although DP also keeps watching it with me and giving his dress opinions which is making me a bit Shock as he appears to like the opposite of what i do!! lol! Have visions of me walking down the aisle and him saying 'well you look nice but you shouldve gone for a drop waist, tulle mermaid silhouette....'!! Lol!!

I dont think we can book for a year yet as flights arent released until 11 months beforehand with Virgin and were looking at Feb 2018, but we wanted rough idea of costs so we can advise family so they know how much to start saving up if they want to come! Very exciting though!!
