So excited! Put the deposit down on my wedding dress today and I love, love, love it Grin. Anyone want to see a pic or talk wedding dresses? Am especially excited because DP's parents have been arseholes lately and put a huge cloud over our wedding plans, so it's brilliant to get excited about it all again Grin

That's a lovely, lovely dress. It's a bit Downton Abbey.

Hope you have a wonderful day.

Thanks so much! I know that this is a completely pointless thread, but after the shite we've been through with DP's parents recently, everything wedding related started to feel a bit crap. I'd tried on the dress previously, but putting it on again today, then actually having it ordered for me, was so fun and lovely and a wonderful change from everything wedding related being dampened by the crappy behaviour of the PILs to be. I'm so excited!

When is the wedding?

Thanks all! Sally, the first thing the fabulous woman I bought it from said when I put it on was 'wow, you look so sexy in that' Wink

Shhh, thanks a mill. We've had a crappy few weeks and I've shed lots of tears over the fact that DP's parents are refusing to come to our wedding, but we've decided to move on from that and just have a fecking amazing day with all the wonderful family members who want to be there Grin

I love your dress too.

I went yesterday with DD and we finally found the dress yesterday. We've ordered it as DD is getting married in July this year so exciting :)

Ooh I love to see wedding dresses and happy brides (not many happy brides or guests on MN).

Now more details please. How many did you try on? Did you know you wanted this style or had your heart set on another style? Did you get a tingling feeling and knew it was the ONE ?

Congrats!!!

Ooh, Chottie, how exciting! Is your DD delighted with her dress? July is no time away, it'll fly around now. Are you increadibly excited?

Thanks so much, Username and Salene. I'm not really very elegant Wink so tbh was utterly dreading dress shopping. We had great fun though. It's also so very comfortable!

Pancake, yes, there tends to be lots of wedding angst and misery on MN! I didn't try on many dresses - only went to one shop, the owner is a family friend and I knew I wanted to get my dress from her. She's amazing and has an incredible eye.

Tbh, what I originally thought I wanted was a million miles away from this. The first dress I tried on was the one I was convinced I wanted, and as beautiful as it was, when I put it on, I felt rather ambivalent about it. So the fabulous store owner encouraged me into a couple of different styles. Yes, the minute I put this one on I had that moment of 'ooh. I feel like a bride'. I felt amazing in it. It was definitely The One. My Mum and sisters said that I came floating out of the fitting room in it, standing all tall, and just grinning my face off. It was the first time that I could picture myself walking up the aisle to DH to be, and that made me tear up, and I just stood smiling at myself in mirror for about 10 minutes Blush. Next appointment will be to select accessories and style it, and the store owner already has some amazing ideas for that so I really can't wait Grin. Then bridesmaids dress shopping in the same place for gorgeous Two Birds dresses.

Secret, thanks! Will definitely post a wedding day photo. . You'll have to wait 9 months and 10 days for that Grin.

Pancake, this is the one I thought I wanted, and it's gorgeous, but just didn't look particularly special on me. So I tried on this, the actual dress, and two others. I'm a low maintenance bride WinkGrin

The one you picked has a bigger 'wow' factor.

Chottie - did your daughter drag you round lots of shops?

Here's mine, I saw her at the national wedding show and when I looked on eBay there was one in my size. I'm so thrilled with it, we're eloping in June and I just can't wait!
