Looking for a good castle-type venue in Yorkshire

My ideal would be a castle that we can have exclusively and can accommodate around 50 people but I can't find that, not in Yorkshire anyway, so a country house would work if it has lots of character. Entire budget will be around £15k.

Anyone done similar or been to a good one like that?

Danby Castle is fantastic but is mainly in ruins so might not be quite what you are looking for. Fantastic wedding venue.

Here are a few for you to look at. I've been to Hazlewood Castle and it is lovely.

Swinton Park
Allerton Castle
Hazelwood Castle

Uggmum has some good suggestions. Allerton Castle is very 'castley' iykwim. Inside its all dark wood panelling etc.

I'd also recommend Ripley Castle.

(I live in Yorks and work in weddings so know most of them)

Although looking again at your requirements, neither Allerton or Ripley are hotels so wouldn't be able to put up your guests.

Swinton Park and Hazlewood Castle are both proper hotels so would be fine for your guests.

Hazelwood castle is a stonker of a venue. One of only two weddings i've been to where the food has been amazing!

There's Cave Castle, there's also Waterton park- it's more stately home but it's beautiful.

I'd say Swinton too, although I declined going to a friends wedding there as it was so expensive to book a room.

There is cheaper accommodation near Swinton park though you'd need a taxi, but it'd be cheaper than booking a room there.
