Our registry office is closed at weekends so I can't call to ask so does anyone know vaguely how much a very basic ceremony in a registry office might cost?

ours was £120. we paid £70 deposit then £50 on the day.

Its £35 each to post notices plus the registrar's fee which varies. Could be as little as £50. So £120 in total.

Have you looked on your council's website for fees?

Ours was a basic weekday ceremony and cost £210 last September. £350 for weekends Shock

I can't see a section about fees, other than the £35 to post notices.

If costs could be kept under £150/200 that'd be good so it sounds possible. I'll have to wait for Monday to check details properly.

£350! That's a big leap Hmm

ours was 40 for registering and 60 for a weekday ceremony in the smallest room.

good luck

Yup I asked them why it was so much more expensive and they said that it required a registrar to be called in "out of hours" Hmm

We're in NE Scotland and its not even a fancy venue so I don't even know how they got away with the £210 tbh.

Out of hours? Aren't weddings mostly at weekends?
I can see coats are going to rise rapidly. My friend is looking at getting married in the summer, at a weekend, on the south coast. Too popular to be cheap Wink

Varies a lot depending where you are.

In our county you get a choice of either basic short legal ceremony with two witnesses only and no guests, very cheap.

Or if you want a room and ceremony and guests (ie normal registry office wedding) it costs between £300 and £700 depending on which register office. Rip off.
