I am extremely honoured to have been asked to be my best friend's best woman for her wedding in September. I am going to be in charge of organising the Hen do/weekend, and I want to do something special, original, memorable and tasteful for her - she deserves something wonderful.

The 'hens' will all be in their late 30s or early 40s, many married with children, and my friend has mentioned going to a spa, and a series of smaller 'experiences' as things she'd like to do.

So, I'd be really grateful if you could share your (good) hen weekend experiences with me, or make any suggestions, so I can get my creative juices flowing. Many thanks in advance SmileThanks

Did 2 last year which were both ace. One we hired a house in Bath for 2 nights, about 12 friends there, pj party in the house 1st night, went to bath spa on the saturday and a cocktail bar at night. Second we hired a house in the middle of the country with a hot tub and didn't actually leave the place for 48 hours! We did a murder mystery on the Saturday night and hired a chef. In the day we did lots of games, a DIY wine tasting etc etc. All attendees seemed to have a fab time. Second turned out extremely good value for money also. Have a wonderful time planning and enjoy the hen weekend itself x

Ahh just remembered, also did a 'Mr and Mrs' quiz for both brides, but interviewed the husband using iPad so could play back the replies at the hen do. Was funny and the brides both really loved it x

Thank you Mummify! I love the Bath Thermae Spa! Where did you find the house you hired in Bath?

Another vote for bath, it's a fantastic city.

We did a life drawing class of a naked man which was hilarious!

Also if you do it in a city some people might be able to or prefer to come for just the day/afternoon and then head home on the train which makes it a bit more flexible/affordable for some

heritagewarrior · 23/01/2015 20:32

That's an excellent point, nilby! Bath is looking very promising - if we were to have several small 'occasions', what would you recommend in Bath?

We went down the river and has a Jane Austen themed picnic, with champagne and bonnets.

We had a treasure hunt around the city in the afternoon.

We had a life drawing class.

We had a pub meal, then on to a couple of bars

Next day we did brunch and spa and then cocktails and a take away!

That sounds fabulous! I may have to steal some (all) of those ideas! Thank you!

We went to the races with a picnic, then did spa things, followed by dinner and clay pigeon shooting the next day, rounded off by a pub lunch (mine).

For a friend, a mooch round Rye, spa things, followed by a murder mystery (written by one of the party). Second day was a castle and pub lunch!
