It's Booked.!!

Had to tell someone, I'm so excited I could burst and we're not telling anyone IRL apart from one friend because I need someone to come dress shopping. Thought I would share my news here.

We booked our wedding/holiday/honeymoon last night. We're flying out to Vegas on 29th December this year, getting married in a helicopter at night over the strip on New Year's Eve (hopefully, this needs to be confirmed) then flying to Mexico on the 3rd January for 7 nights honeymoon.

We're going to tell people we're going to Mexico for 2 weeks otherwise we think people will guess we're getting married. Although I think some will think we're getting married in Mexico, but at least if anyone asks if that's what we're planning I can truthfully say no.!!

Thanks Itcouldbeworse, I've already said I want to book somewhere nice for a meal afterwards, I think with it being New Year's Eve we might struggle to find somewhere if we don't book, I'm just trying to figure out where.

I'm not sure if a want a proper wedding dress or just a nice dress, going to try on both and see what works. I might be veering towards a proper wedding dress slightly, but will be A line I think rather than a big dress, make it easier for getting in and out of the helicopter.

You're right Ra88, so far it has been completely stress free, we talked about what we wanted in a wedding and having the big white wedding at home trying to keep everybody happy just wasn't going to work for us. Plus it's second time around for both of us so out families have already had that.

I did wonder if it might be a bit weird doing it just the two if us, but I'm just really excited now it's booked.

We weren't actually officially engaged, we agreed i wouldn't have an engagement ring so we could save the money, but we went out yesterday and he bought me the most amazing perfect ring. We went to our favourite Indian restaurant when we got back and he proposed there. So today I feel on top of the world Smile x

I think I want to buy a dress, we're only going to be out there for 1 full day before we get married so wouldn't want to risk not finding one out there.

We're not getting married in a chapel, the actual wedding ceremony is going to be in the helicopter as we fly over the strip at night Smile

Fair play Itcouldbeworse, you're thinking of things I hadn't even thought of.!! I want full length but not too big, probably A-line, what's the best material for resisting creases?

I hadn't thought about my hair with the helicopter blades either. I did think I would keep my hair pretty simple, because of the headphones we'll have to wear in the helicopter. I have just short of shoulder length hair in a bob, so maybe just have a sparkly clip in it.

We're definitely taking our rings with us. We bought my engagement ring the other day, it's a solitaire with an offset band so we're having my wedding ring made to fit with it. Hubby to be isn't sure what he wants, we were looking online last night and he fancies maybe palladium, tungsten or titanium Smile

When I'm looking for a dress I'll definitely consider how much it's going to crease. That dress in tkmax is gorgeous, if I don't go for the traditional wedding dress, that is exactly the style I'll go for. Unfortunately I want to lose at least a stone before I even start looking for a dress.

I'd already thought about getting a little handbag to keep a hairbrush etc.

Was thinking about getting someone in to do my hair and make up but think it'll be horrendously expensive on NYE, so going to do my own. But book a session in debenhams or some where like that to get my make up done with really good products, see how it's done and buy some really good quality make up.

I think we'll have to go and look at a few wedding rings for h2b, he's not entirely sure what he wants, but knows he doesn't want to spend a lot. Titanium looks good though, especially if it's light. Does titanium scratch?

I'm still waiting for confirmation of the wedding day and for our room in Mexico. They did say 5 days but I want to know now. I really hope we can get NYE, once I know I can think about booking somewhere to eat. We have a room overlooking the bellhop fountains so might just be in the room at midnight Smile

Good to know about titanium, that could be a good option for his ring.

No unfortunately we're not staying in the Bellagio, the budget couldn't stretch to that..!! We're staying in Planet Hollywood but in a room facing the fountains, should be good hopefully.

I'm so excited, I'm dying to go looking for a dress now, but really need to lose a bit of weight first. I don't think there's anything else I can do at the moment.

Thank you Grin

I can't use Pinterest or anything like that, we're not telling anyone we're getting married or even engaged. I'm sure someone is bound to notice the ring sometime but we're just saying that he bought me the ring cos he was fed up seeing me wear an old one on that finger, he's asked me to spend the rest of our lives together, and we may well get married but no immediate plans. To be honest I don't think we're going to fool anyone. We're telling people we're going to mexico for 2 weeks, they're just going to think we're getting married there. They'll just have a surprise that we actually went to vegas and did it there Grin

OMG, tell me about your secret wedding, what did you do? How did people take it? Did you regret it?

I'm finding the urge to tell people quite strong at the moment but I'm hoping that's just the excitement of booking it. I know I really don't want the drama of everyone knowing and trying to get involved, but it is a little bit hard not to share the excitement.
