I'm going on my hen weekend tomorrow Smile
We are having a church ceremony, then a very informal reception in a village hall with marquee outside. Kind of village fete/festival theme.
I have to admit I have loved planning it too Smile
What kind of wedding are you having?

i enjoyed it and actually in a way has made it easier and has kept costs down - we have spent just over £5500 in total on everything so really hoping the weather is good!!!

Thats good, have you got a lot of guests, or just keeping it to a minimum? Hope the weather is nice too!

Yep, took me a while to think of a good/cheap theme. Good old primark has lots of camouflage in at the mo!

I've got 100-120, all invited to the whole day. I think Babybellas is my wedding twin!

We're getting married in our parish church, then onto our village hall (which is free, as I painted it for them!). Got fish and chip van and ice cream van, then a friend that owns a pub is doing bacon baps and veggie burgers for £1per head in the evening! Alcohol is tricky, we're getting wine and cans from her wholesaler, but need to keep lager cool, so I'm thinking big bins with ice in.

I advertised locally for some staff to come help as it was going to be impossible to do it totally ourselves.

Having village fete outside, with looooooooads of games (friend with pub also does a country fair at their pub once a year, so we're getting the hook a duck etc) giant bouncy castle, face painting, wooden croquet, cricket, large tombola of tat and donated gifts, guess teddy name, air hockey, table football, giant jenga.....list goes on!! If only we can have good weather :(

My hen is the 8th. My friends have arranged it as a surprise so I have no idea, though I did state I did not want a 'night out' getting drunk in town in a sparkly Ann Summers cowboy hat Hmm aka hen night from hell haha. So all I know is that it's out of town, and involves drinking!

Oh, and we're doing big buckets of punch in the day, self serve. MIL is tasked with sorting that, though I've bought the paper cups as got a discount.

Yours sounds amazing Scheherezade! Have my fingers crossed for you for the weather! That would of been my idea of a wedding if we could of afforded to hire a marquee of some sort! Tried to keep ours to low budget, but not always easy when as soon as you say the word ?Wedding? everythinf goes up in price!

I've not got a marquee - just the hall and the gardens. Hall has one main room, a side room, large kitchen and toilets. If it rains we're all stuck indoors haha.

My budget is £5k :) As I said - we got the hall for free all day (11am ceremony), day food is £7.50 per head, evening food £1 per head. Biggest expense is my dress £600 + £80 alterations, and church £550 inc organ and bell ringers. Rings were £1k but my mum has offered to pay for that - she should be paying them today so we can go collect tomorrow!

I've done EVERYTHING myself, so that's kept costs down. Hall comes with china crockery and tables & chairs, I've borrowed some more tables off the village church. Basically refused to buy into anything 'wedding industry' so no posh cars, DPs dad has a fancy jag so he's our chauffeur, got local uni students to do the photography for £100, florist is doing head circlets and flower tiara and my bouquet, but then I'm going to get a cheap bulk deal from a local garden centre of pansies or some such, and put them in little china teapots I got from a car boot for £5 for 8!

I got my bridesmaids dresses in the January sales, reduced to £25 each! Gorgeous white chiffon maxi dresses, empire line with roses under the bust. Got baby and dog sitter for free, bought 100 little gold gift bags for £4 inc delivery and put handful of biodegradeable ivory butterfly shaped confetti - I love eBay!!

yes I agree re: "wedding" + few extra '00s! Friend of mine paid over 6k just for venue hire!!! I was gobsmacked, thats more than my entire wedding (well, probably equal once the little bits are added), and we have more guests!

Its really good when you can find good deals! We are having bride and groom boxes which I got for 10.00 for 100 people, and i?m filling them with red sweets, have actually found most of the sweets in poundland and primark! Yep Jan sales are the best for dresses, I got mine from ebay in the end, they were 32 each but have added an extra 30.00 for alterations per dress! We are having our cake made by my DP?s Nan, which has put a lot of the cost down! We were going to do our own food, but the hall we are having the venue at have their own caterers so we have paid out just over a grand for a 3 course menu for 90 people. Not bad as all the other caterers I contacted wanted 2 grand plus! thankfully our parents have contributed to part of the big things, which has saved a lot! I had my final dress fitting today, really cannot wait to wear it now!

Yes my Maid of Honour runs a cake making business and is making us this incredible carousel cake for free, and 100 cupcakes!

My cake is tiers, with rose & vanilla on one, orange blossom, fig & honey on another and then a plain sponge cake :)

Sorry - I will just waffle on about my wedding endlessly!

Your lucky you know a lot of people in the wedding business! cake sounds delicious! We are having a 3 tier cake one of them is chocolate sponge, 2nd, buttercream, and then 3rd tier is gonna have red food colouring inside with some more buttecream, so it brings in my red theme:) then rose petals made from icing scattered all over :) Haha no its fine I could too! think people will get fed up of me soon if I don?t shut up!

Yum, like the American red velvet cake?

I wanted something English (rose and vanilla) something middle eastern (orange, fig & honey) and a happy simple sponge as I'm half Iranian.

Friend with country pub still hasn't sent me wholesaler drinks list so I'm getting a little nervous about that, its been 2 weeks since we agreed it. I've paid her for everything else, its just the drinks...

Yep, havent told any of the guests the filling so will be a surprise :) Thats a good idea, you?ve really thought every detail through haven?t you! Oh I hate it when people don?t get back to you I?m so impatient, just have to keep politely reminding them that you need to know whats happening! My caterers still haven?t told me the definate quote or taken a deposit or anything, and I hate the money just sitting here!

I'm a sahm to one so I have time to plan haha.

I might chase her tomorrow... Just worrying as its not a business, just a friend, so its so much more complicated with not wanting to be rude or ungrateful!

The carousel is just because I really like carousels ;) and I'm going for an Edwardian Downton-esque vibe.

Played processional through church sound system today, was a bit scary!
