Page boys in kilts

DP and I are getting married in December and DP and his groomsmen will be wearing kilts. Our page boys will be 10, 6 and almost 2 and will also be in kilts. Some people have suggested that the page boys may be more comfortable without the Prince Charlie jacket as, so DP informes me, they can be hot, itchy and restrictive. He has suggested they are just in shirt sleeves with their kilts.

Can anyone who's had pages in kilts at their wedding/been to a wedding with pages in kilts please advise? I worry they'll look odd or will get cold in just shirt sleeves in December.

I'm not sure of the correct term, but I've seen wee boys in waistcoat versions of the Prince Charlie jackets and they looked great and would probably be less restrictive and itchy.

At my sister's wedding her page had a lovely thick Arran jumper over his shirt which looked really good - and as he was the only wee boy it didn't look at all odd against the adults full formal outfits

They can have waistcoats, they look good and don't restrict arm movement. They will probably only wear them for the ceremony and photos anyway!

Why not go for the Argyll jackets as it's more like a blazer or the Jacobean shirts?
My ds 4 has been asked to be page boy next year, hes not keen on wearing a kilt so am going to suggest tartan trews for him, maybe that might be a better idea for you?

Or little wooly sleepless jumpers?

Waistcoats sound like a good option, although I LOVE the idea of the two youngest in little Arran jumpers.

I considered the Argyll jackets for the boys, but again, worried they might look odd as the men own their kilts and have the full shebang with Prince Charlie jackets.
