Thanks for the vote of confidence, watchingout Yes, I've decided I don't care.
I ended up getting a scarf (in Primark of all places, woohoo!) that's quite similar to MrsLettuce's third link above from Notonthehighstreet. It's perfect, ivory lace, and looks great draped across my chest and tied loosely at the back. Probably sounds a bit weird but it's great and works really well with the dress.
Now all I need to do is just STAY AWAY from all of those beautiful wedding blogs...they are a health hazard!
ssh, I'm not great with a needle at all I wouldn't trust myself to go near the dress! But it would be a good solution for someone more handy.
Songbird and Mrs. Lettuce, I was trying the dress on without a bra so I don't think it's a bra issue. The bodice of the dress is designed to fairly snug and made for the small-boobed. I'm going to try it on later today with a good strapless bra (that I got recently measured for) and see what the lay of the land is. Mrs Lettuce, thank you SO much for digging up all those links. I really like the look of your third suggestion (though it seems to be out of stock). The 'too traditional?' one, even though it's much more than I'd like to spend, could also work well. I'm going to look more closely at both of them.
Crawling - I'm not sure how much I've gained, under 5 pounds I'd say. I was pretty thin while still breastfeeding and also my boobs were much fuller so both of those things combined made the dress look great on. I am still thin and, since the dress still fits, don't actually need to lose weight as such. But I DO need to get serious about toning in the month that's left to go!
A shawl / stole would work. Is your dress the pink one?
How about - and I know this is out there but get something that totally contrasts such as navy blue, get a bolero/shrug/scarf and also a tiny, tiny belt so it looks as if the dress (stunning by the way) has the contrast in it.
How handy are you with a needle and thread? Rather than a belt you could get some material and add it as trim, then use the same for a shawl.
This is the kind of thing I was thinking of with the belt.
I know, I should. I need some sort of cover up anyway but just haven't found the right one. Hate the thought of spending ££££ on a scrap of lace that will be worn for an hour or two. Things are also complicated by the fact that my dress is not white (you may remember my search from this thread. I sort of thought that I could just get a fine-knit crew neck cardi in the same colour as the dress. Finding one is easier said than done though
I will be wearing a flower crown with ivory flowers; would an ivory cover-up of some sort look shit with that colour dress?
I love my dress, I do. But it's strapless and I bought it when I was still breastfeeding and ultra thin (size 6). My arms looked slender and (possibly because my boobs were fuller) I had no armpit bulge. It looked great.
Now, I knew that I had put on a couple of pounds since then but thought that it was no harm. However, I just tried it on and I have armpit bulge now and it looks shit!
ARGH! What was I thinking getting a strapless dress? Also my skin looks so dull and I just look wrecked and my hair is so stupid and limp.
What do you doooooo when there's a month to go and you look the complete opposite of a blushing bride?
