My sister and I are organising the sweet table for our other sisters wedding, so I was just wondering what sweets would make you think yum and what would make you think yuk!
Thank you!
cola bottles, haribo love hearts and those big blue whales!
nothing that takes too long to eat incase someone tries to talk to you then ur mouth is full of hard boiled sweets!
Do you mean pudding?
Lemon meringue pie
Strawberry gateau ?
littlemiss has got the right idea, sorry I should've said sweet shop type sweets, not dessert type sweets!
put it in the chat section, you'll get loads of responses
I went to a wedding recently which had these - great idea
although if DC are invited probably best to serve some proper food pretty early on for them at least, otherwise they get hyped up on sugar and are too tired to eat real food by the time the buffet comes out.
The sweets at this wedding were mainly love-themed or pink/white themed, little packets of love hearts, those gummy red hearts you get in haribo etc, pink and white heart shaped jelly beans, flumps, a "tree" of licorice allsorts, and candy canes in red/pink flavours.
Love hearts, haribo and aniseed jellies!
Refreshers
Fruit salads and black jacks
Flumps
Flying saucers
Sweets to represent the bride and groom somehow. So if they're called mike and Michelle get m and m's.
If they have nicknames maybe you could use as sweets?
Do they have a theme for the wedding you could follow? A colour? Butterflies etc?
Popping candy is a must though.
Are you looking for fun or classy ideas?
These are all brilliant, we've been looking for a while, but we're worrying about whether we're making the right choices, the colour scheme is green, so far we're thinking
Green jelly beans
Green sweetie pencils
Green laces
Apple bon bons
Flying saucers
Green rock pieces
Chocolate eggs in green foil
Blue and pink cola bottles
Fizzy cola bottles
Shrimps and bananas
We're thinking of having as much green as possible mixed with everyone's favourites, but will it look half hearted if its not all to a theme??
Can't believe how much time I'm spending thinking about it all!!
That sounds fantastic - going to a reception tomorrow eve and hoping there is still some left there.
I love the theme idea
Vegetarian Percy Pigs from M&S have green ears (and would give you something for this who might not eat gelatin)
What about green and white then?
Green ideas sound good.
Then maybe marshmallows? Bon bons? Milk bottles? Eggs?
And a bowl of love hearts. That's a definite MUST!
Would love to have this task! There's an old sweet shop down the road and get sweet gifts from there.
How are they being 'served'?
Cellophane bags? Brown bags? Bowls?
Maybe even a 'guess How many xyz are in the jar'? Just for fun/charity?
If you want to go all out what about custom rock in green with bride and grooms names in.
If you google images sweet table centrepieces it brings up lots of ideas. Interestingly lots of the tables of sweets are bulked up with colour theme iced biscuits, cupcakes and macaroons.
Thank you all so much, these are brilliant!
I was hoping to get personalised rocks, but they're a bit pricy, but I have found some cute green ones with 'all you need is love' in the middle.
Love the green and white idea, and the Percy pigs too!
We've got about 16 jars to fill plus 3 fish bowls, I'm also thinking about getting a large chopping board with Turkish delight on it - i think I'll be guarding the table all night to make sure everything tastes ok, my mouths watering just thinking about it!
One of the The fish bowls I'd put marshmallows in. Maybe two bowls depending how you're presenting them.
Also some pearl used helium green and white balloons would be nice. A florist would inflate them for a next to nothing charge. And maybe a few white flowers/greenery?
Green and white jelly beans/babies?
With the rock just be aware I went to a wedding with a sweet table with rock and the rock stuck to the jars. The bride was slamming the jars around trying to free the rock! Just to bare in mind. Though the personalised rock is a great idea.
I would have cellophane bags for guests to fill. SMALL ones as the drunk men would get carried away with big ones
White choc mice too!
Just marriedgreen rock £2.95 for 50 pieces. I can't vouch for the company i just came across them on google.
mountain thanks for the tip re the rock sticking, may rethink where we put it.
We've got some of those stripy paper bags, but was thinking about getting some of those cellophane cones and pre filling them with with flumps and flying saucers (to look pretty!)
Maybe these bags to "serve" them in?
Where are the jelly babies?
X-post re bags!
Single coloured M&Ms
Cola bottles fizzy and non-fizzy ones
False teeth
Milk bottles
Pink shrimps
Fudge
White chocolate buttons with hundreds & thousands
White mice
Jelly babies
Jelly beans
