good one.

I hate fruitcake and only eat the marzipan bit, so I'd say go for the look!
you'll have the nice photos, but no one will remember the taste, unless it's really horrible!

if the wedding is in England people expect it to be a fruitcake, and will peel off the sugar if they don't like it!

having said that, we went to a non-traditional wedding in Holland, bbq for food, massive apple pie for cake, it was brilliant and one of the best times we ever had!

(the couple are good friends, totally bonkers, they had coloured plastic engagement rings and the wedding rings engraving says "Yeehar!"
she had a black wedding dress with a real fruit wild strawberry necklaces and other quirky stuff I forgot, all very "them")

Can you not ask if they'll adjust the recipe? People can just eat around the icing.

I have been to a lot of weddings over the last few years. None had fruit cake. It was sponge or fruit. One had cheese cakes.
Fruit cake is becoming less popular from what I've seen. it's also more expensive.

it wasn't fruit was individual chocolate and white chocolate ones.

still looking for a different cake

we're having a 4 tiered cake from M&S. Big bottom fruit tier, then vanilla sponge and the top two are chocolate. I'd say go for taste, this is a CAKE after all!

we ditched the cake for 2 chocolate fountains!! Grin

My brother had the m&s white chocolate wedding cake. Gorgeous! Chocolate sponge & ganache filling with white choc icing.
