Is it REALLY going to be 35 degrees in the South East next Wednesday???

(42 Posts)

Please please please tell me that is not true...

Having a nasty root canal done that day which involves a fair bit of a walk from the car park across the town centre to the surgery. Feel wobbly enough without having to do that in blazing heat....

Nooooooooooo <melts>

Trills Wed 17-Jul-13 08:18:56

"Next Wednesday" is too far ahead for it to be accurate.

It might be. It might not.

If you're looking t this, for example the numbers are the upper and lower bounds of what they think might happen. So the high next Wednesday might be 35, but it also might be 21, and will probably be somewhere in between.

There is some question mark appearing now as to how next week will evolve. That bbc data is old data but the uncertainty still exists. The models are pretty much in agreement with it remaining on the hot side for the beginning of next week. It is what happens on thursday that is really interesting....

It is possible that we may reach 35C (or a low probability of even hotter) next week.

Why does Scotland never get 35 ?

It's windy with clouds but warm... to be sunny by Friday with no clouds PLEASE although I can sleep now

valiumredhead Wed 17-Jul-13 13:44:16

I'm seriously consisting moving to Scotlandgrin

Diary, its because that sort of hot air comes up from Europe.

DiaryOfAWimpyMum Wed 17-Jul-13 13:48:29

My parents and DC have been to Wales then England, due back end of this week, I seen them all on Facebook they look like they have had 2 weeks abroad. envy

Or weather is silly, the sun usually comes out around 7am-12/1pm then 7pm at night but looking at that link, tomorrow looks to be less cloudy and still warm next week so it's looking good!! [hopeful]

DiaryOfAWimpyMum Wed 17-Jul-13 13:49:23

As I thought next move must be to England. Or Europe!

Whojamaflip Wed 17-Jul-13 14:08:04

Thursday OYBBK ?

will I need my ofrs?

valiumredhead Wed 17-Jul-13 14:32:41

Consideringblush

whojam. With the current possible forecast you might not want to be stood under large trees.

Oooooh, Thursday sounds exciting!!
Wednesday (with the possibility of 35) sounds like hell...

Interestingly one of the models is looking much more like convective weather from Monday onwards (but still hot)

twistyfeet Wed 17-Jul-13 17:51:28

35? <faints> on thursday I am lugging camping gear by train across country.

Yay, I don't care! I shall be on the Atlantic by then, and it's rarely boiling there grin

What is convective weather?

PoppyWearer Wed 17-Jul-13 22:22:33

Arse, so it's looking stormy towards the end of next week?

That is a BIG problem. Poo.

digerd Thu 18-Jul-13 07:04:03

convective weather?
When are we going to get a FRESH BREEZE again and less humidity/closeness? Don't mind the high temps but need some air movement!

MirandaWest Thu 18-Jul-13 07:10:17

I'd like nice weather in Suffolk for the weekend with the 27th July in it please (am assuming no nice weather wherever I am from Wednesday 24th as DC break up from school on Tuesday 23rd).

Will be in Tuscany where they have rain. gringringringringrin

At 5 months pregnant I want rain, breeze and air conditioning.

Stuff 35 degrees, I'd be sitting in a paddling pool full of ice in the garden!

DiaryOfAWimpyMum Thu 18-Jul-13 08:03:29

Oh ya beauty it's going to be 27/28 in Scotland today!!

<faints>

digerd Thu 18-Jul-13 08:52:14

Was it a fluke, or did I imagine a fresh breeze from the east just now as I went outside to dump something in my wheelybin ?

PestoSwimissimos Thu 18-Jul-13 09:17:10

There's a lovely fresh breeze down here today - outskirts of Brighton. Clear blue sky too grin

I would now say not.

As I said in another thread:
"I'm afraid I'm really struggling with the forecast now! The models are switching constantly. I don't think I'll get even this week right, never mind in a weeks time.

The breakdown in the weather as everyone else here has predicted now does seem to be timed to coincide with the start of the English school holidays. However, it still doesn't look too bad for this week at least, with temps for most being very pleasant (mid 20s mid week and perhaps hotter again for a couple of days at the end of the week). The el scorchio temps seem to be vanishing. Yes, there will be some rain and storms, but not in an unpleasant grey cold day sort of way.

I'll be honest. No idea about the week of the 29th currently."

DiaryOfAWimpyMum Sat 20-Jul-13 09:03:05

Ah well we've had 3 weeks off school and 3 weeks good weather, better than the usually days

DiaryOfAWimpyMum Sat 20-Jul-13 09:03:32

Usual 3 days...

Meglet Sat 20-Jul-13 09:17:01

I know exactly what's going to happen. It'll be nice for another couple of weeks, lovely summer weather, hot hot hot.

Then the second we cross the border into Cornwall it'll chuck it down, all week hmm.

YoungJoseph Sat 20-Jul-13 18:11:17

I'm with you on that Meglet...

Well on the upside we have the possibility of some lovely thunderstorms. I LIKE thunderstorms grin

Am so much happier with the current forecast for next week, whilst I love summer, the heat was just too much!
And yay!! about potential thunderstorms grin

BlackeyedSusan Sun 21-Jul-13 01:26:22

root canal was not that bad either. not as bad as I feared. though i had a sore jaw after shock for an hour!

ChippingInHopHopHop Sun 21-Jul-13 01:31:21

Oh, I've been loving this really hot weather, I was hoping it would last at least next week!!

Though I do love a good thunderstorm as well grin

... and snow and wind and and and....

Just not bloody day after day of grey.

OYBBK - can you please order some more very sunny, very hot days please smile

digerd Sun 21-Jul-13 06:45:58

Yesterday was much more tolerable. Even when the sun came out in the early afternoon for a bit it was fine. I like it better to be not cold but not hot either with a fresh breeze. Little dog had a walk yesterday afternoon which we'd had to miss for the last few weeks.

Had a low night temp of 16 regularly, but odd that at 16 degrees in the cold spring I had to wear a jacket, but the last few weeks it was a 'warmer' 16 and didn't need a jacket at 6.30 am dog walk??

digerd Sun 21-Jul-13 09:02:37

Well surprise, surprise. It was chilly this morning at 17 degrees and had to wear a thin jacket and the wind made my finger tips cold.
It was very refreshing and blew some of the cobwebs in my brain away smile

valiumredhead Sun 21-Jul-13 17:18:05

Cancel that order !angry wink

Mirage Sun 21-Jul-13 17:28:07

We are in Sheringham,Norfolk and it is cloudy and cool.I want more hot weather,I've had to put a cardi on for the first time since the end of June. The sea here is surprisingly warm at 16c though.

Thank you blackeyedsusan smile The amount of people that have told me their root canal was awful, painful, horrible etc etc is mounting up and I needed to hear someone say it was ok smile

Still terrified though....sad

digerd Sun 21-Jul-13 19:54:02

Hmmm!

The cool refreshing breeze diappeared this afternoon when the sun came out. Couldn't go out at 3pm. Just been out with little dog at 7pm and still too hot for her and I was fanning myself again with spanish fan.
Was told it will be back to 31 tomorrow - and no doubt no cool breeze either. <grizzly face> sad for little dog.

valiumredhead Sun 21-Jul-13 20:02:00

Whereabouts are you dig?

digerd Sun 21-Jul-13 20:04:28

SE - just north of London, valium.

MummyMastodon Sun 21-Jul-13 20:06:21

We've had a blissfully cool, cloudy day, even a very, very slight mist of rain. It was heaven.

telly says 28 degrees again tomorrow, but I dunno, in my bones it feels like the weather has properly turned, we'll see.

valiumredhead Sun 21-Jul-13 20:11:39

Been lovely in Beds, cool with sun this afternoon but not hot. We were able to do loads in the garden and I cooked a lasagne, lovely to be able to cook properly againgrin
