Can't seem to get into the right weaning routine for 7 month old dd

DD is nearly 7 months but because she was 3 weeks early, have taken weaning slowly so she is still only on fruit, veg, baby rice and porridge. She has been ill th last week but now she is better she still doesn't seem to eat or drink much and I can't work out the best time to give her food to fit round the nursery run. At the moment she is probably having less than a cube at breakfast and lunch and then 3 -4 tsp of rice with fruit at dinner:-

7.30 milk (3-4oz)
8 breakfast
11. milk (3-4 oz) and food
11.45 nursery run
2.30 milk (2-5oz)

  1. food

6.30 milk (8oz)
10pm milk (2-4oz)

I am guessing I should try and drop the 10pm feed but I think she will wake if we do. I have tried not to give 11am milk but she screams and refuses food. I can't move lunch any later as we don't get back from nursery til 12.15 and by then she has either falling asleep or too tired to eat - normally sleeps 12.30-2/2,30pm.

Any advice pls

erm...try aitch's blog about babyled weaning, don't stress, and let your child decide.....

i don't know much about routines but i do know that after an illness my dd is off her food for a while. just keep offering plenty of milk and do food when is convenient for you and the rest of the family is my advice.

The amounts sound about right for a 7mo tbh. She will get most of her nutrition from milk for a good while yet. DS didn't really start having much more than a cube's worth at each meal til he was about 9 months.

Also I think it is v common for them to need a night feed for a while yet.

OK thanks, I know all babies are different and they go at their own pace. Will just go with the flow...would rather she continued with her milk as how filling can a bit of carrot really be!
