can you steam apple and pear? and if so how long do they need?

Don't see why not. Do 5 minutes and see how they are. Pears will take less time as they tend to be softer. You may need to do longer.

Just stew them in a very tiny bit of water in a saucepan. They cook in their own juices anyway.

Pears take no time at all.

i wouldn't bother - grate them on a fine grater - come out as mush and you keep more nutrients!
