weaning out of desperation

Hi Mums. Back to work after 3 months off and having a bit of a nightmare with baby girl (4 months). Son is 22 months old and took to bottles, boob and dummies, so was really easy. DD refuses anything but me, for food and comfort. Have tried all HV suggestions re different types of bottles, beakers etc. Can work from home half the time, but first month back has been full of excuses so I can work from home much more. The days I'm not here, dh and au pair send desperate text messages and dd screams until I get home. I've now started weaning so that at least she can satisfy her hunger, but although she's been great with the food, she still uses me for comfort all through the day and is a determined young lady. Excuses are wearing thin at work, dh nerves wearing thin at home. What can I do??
PS Don't tell me to give up work - if I could, I would!

Hm...dh is at home...could you not do somehting from home, and dh work outside from home, and you may even be able to scrap the au pair....

We both have jobs where we can work from home for about half the week, but have normal working hours, and have to be available for phonecalls etc. So we need an au pair to look after the kids while we are here, otherwise we'd get no work done. We can't afford nursery fees. System is failing because dd wants me at home all the time....
