Greek Yoghurt

I have recently started BLW my 6 month and a bit DD. She is mainly BLW as she wont eat purees or anything that she can't hold and feed herself! When I say eat I mean put in mouth and suck... I am a little concerned at the slow pace we are moving and feel perhaps I need to extend the variety of food offered. She has had banana, pepper, cucumber, pear, peach, all kind of veg etc. I am wondering if there is anything a little more exciting I can offer? Or any foods your LO's love that you can reccomend trying? Also can she eat Greek yoghurt - ie not any special baby stuff.
She is also very constipated... poor thing! Anything I can do to help this?
Thanks

Both mine had greek yoghurt rather than ordinary as soon as I introduced dairy.

Out of interest what milk does she have? DD2 got incredibly constipated around 7 months and I tried everything- prune juice, added bran, loads of lentils etc etc- and in the end the thing that sorted it was taking her off follow on formula and putting her back on ordinary. (Thanks to Hunkermunker for a random post I saw talking about why follow-on milk was not great)

I have a great recipe for lentil and cheese wedges from a Cranks cook book I can dig out which might be good for BLW if you would like it.

Hmmmmmmm - I haven't introduced dairy yet. Not too sure when it is ok to give dairy. She has been on fruit and veg for about a month. Do I have to wait until she actually starts to eat the things she is given a bit more or can I bring in other things now? She is purely breast fed. TMI coming up... she is normall a very pooey (is that a word!!) baby but it's now been about 4 days and she seems very uncomfortable and not herself at all. I am also wondering if the constipation may be putting her off eating in a vicious circle?

Sorry - just seen your other post RBH. Lentil and cheese wedges sound great. I haven't given her lentils either. I don't know why but I feel a bit scared about expanding things beyond fruit and veg. Maybe because she hasn't really eaten too much at all yet and I feel that if I move on too quickly she might never like carrot / parsnip etc. Is this silly?

Aitch is a person who knows a lot about BLW and she has a blog but I can't remember the address of it. Sorry!

I think dairy is ok from 6 months although I was very cautious about introducing it as I am not great with it. Perhaps you could up the breastfeeds and cut back on the food a little to sort out the constipation? Apple juice is also good but I would have thought that breastmilk is the best thing for it. Sorry not to be much help. Hope it all sorts itself out soon.

Crossed posts! I introduced lentils and beans as the first proteins I gave and then dairy, then fish, then meat. Not totally sure why but I decided that plant proteins were probably the easiest to digest.

I know there are some good recipes on Aitch's website. Will go and look for a link then really should give my two breakfast. Now that's fun with a 2.9 yo who only wants pittas and hummous these days and a 14 mo who won't eat any bread products and who is going off cereal! (It's just a phase, it's just a phase, keep repeating to self! )

No - thanks for the advice - much appreciated. I have actually checked out Aitch's blog quite a few times and it is my only point of reference for BLW... In fact I often choose DD's meals by looking through the photo gallery to see what looks fun. You'd think I would have a better idea by now! I think all the advice about introducing certain things at certain times is confusing me - so I haven't introduced much at all in case I get it wrong and DD.... and she .... hmmmmmmm... and she would probably be just fine!!!

Oh bugger cross posted again! There are govt guidelines on what to introduce when and at the mo most things seem to be either 6 months or 12 months. Trouble is things change and change back which is confusing. There is only 19 months between my two but I was given very different weaning advice. Might be worth starting a thread for Aitch and other BLWers as they could probably be a lot more help.

Right, really must go- Mumsnet is addictive!

oranges are good for constiation - put a few segments on her tray and let her suck on them

Thanks Tommy - I will try that today.
