She is getting enough milk, just lots at night - she was just taking one night feed sometime between two and four, but now has upped this for some reason and stopped drinking much during the day! am trying to get back on track...times are approx by the way.

4am bf
7am bf
9am breakfast
11am bf
1pm lunch
3pm bf
6pm supper
7.30 bed...and won't take milk?!
12pm bf

any suggestions for sorting this?

thanks

She might be too full from supper for her bedtime milk? DS has his tea at 5 so there is plenty of time for it to go down before his bedtime.

TBH though, DS was still feeding 2/3 times a night at this age (and longer!) so think it's pretty normal. But if you can get her to take her bedtime milk then dreamfeed whenever you go to bed, maybe she will then go through til morning?

sounds like a good plan! she absolutely wolfs down her supper and cries if we don't give her enough! Maybe I should try giving her some milk first, if milk is still more important than food at this age? I find all this stuff really confusing!

You could drop the mid morning feed - just give a snack, bring lunch forward to about 12-ish, which would then in turn bring supper earlier, leaving her hungry for bedtime milk.

Yes, probably hungry as there is 5 hours between lunch and supper and then an hour later another feed, so she hasn't had time to fully digest her supper.

My dd used to have milk about 7.00am, breakfast at about 9.00am, lunch about 12.30, afternoon milk about 3.30pm then dinner at 5.00pm and milk at 7.00pm.

By about 10 months I think I'd dropped the afternoon feed too, or limited to a short bf.

Hope that helps?

thing is that the 4,7 and 11 feeds are the only big ones she does (both sides) all the others are snackish ones, so if I drop one, will she be getting enough milk? I'm almost considering dropping supper, though she loves it and its her biggest meal. this is obviously why she can't fit any milk! Maybe if I change the 3pm feed to a snack, then feed supper earlier that may work? Does it actually matter when in the day they get their milk?

SR - that is exactly the same times as my one was doing... then supper slipped a little later and she was starving and dropping milk feeds - will go back to more scheduled times - sounds bang on to me. thanks for that!

I think she'll just adjust and take more milk at the other feeds - it might take a week or so for her to catch up to the change...

Don't drop her supper - you're lucky she's got a good appetite and is taking so well to her food! Does she have a big lunch too?

No - it doesn't matter when they get their milk at all - its difficult when bf as you can't see how much they're getting but just go with what she wants. If you're worried about how much milk she's getting maybe drop the afternoon feed.

I remember I found it quite tricky at this time as they're having 3 meals a day and its difficult to balance out the milk requirements!
