oh, im not sure if the right thing to do is compare. I mean, as long as she is healthy and is steadily putting on weight im sure you have nothing to worry about. I have a friend whose dd is 13 months, yet still wont take ANY solids. She is on 6 bottles of milk a day yet developmentally has no probs at all (is on the 75 centile, can walk, say a couple of words etc)

My dd (11 months) is a good eater (1 weetabix for breakfast, 1 scrambled egg on 1 piece of toast and a yoghurt for lunch and a decent portion of spag bol etc for dinner). I have the opposite worry and think that she overeats (she is currently off the scale on those centile charts and wears 18-24 months

I think the key is not to fret over meal times and she'll eat what she needs. If you are worried about her weight though, speak to your GP.

My DS is nearly 14m and has 1.5 weetabix for breakfast, a morning snack of some dried fruit, lunch is a small sandwich (maybe peanut or pumpkin seed butter) plus fruit, afternoon snack of fruit/crackers dinner is whatever we are having. The quantity varies hugely from day to day though. He has been ill this week and barely eaten anything but toast and fruit. Some days he eats a massive dinner, some days virtually nothing. He is a 50th centiler, if that means anything. I don't think you need worry if your dd is developing well and seems bright and healthy.

I give ds 15 months his main meal at lunchtime which is the time he eats really well, usually fish pie or other main dish and fruit/yogurt. At tea he has finger foods and because he tends to be tired he generally just picks. Breakfast varies how much he eats usually cereal, toast yogurt banana.

Thank god. I have been worrying like anything that my DS doesn't eat enough. He is still having 3-4 bottles of (formula) milk per day and eating: 2 squares of toast, a banana, a jar of baby food (or equivalent), a small yoghurt and some fruit. I don't seem to be able to break the milk habit though - what has everyone else done?

Hi kate, my dd is almost 16 months and I spent ages worrying that she didn't eat enough. She is not fussy in that she will eat most things I offer her but the amounts are tiny. She has a bedtime bottle now and no other formula during the day. At your dds age I started to cut out daytime bottles - first she just got morning and bedtime bottles and then down to just the bedtime one a few months ago. I noticed a big increase in her appetite when I stopped the morning bottle. She can drink fine from a doidy cup or sippy cup so I offer her drinks of milk but she doesn't bother much with cows milk.
She gets Readybrek/Weetabix for breakfast followed by toast and banana. Sometimes she eats a lot, other times very little. She seems to know what she needs.
Lunch used to be her worst meal. A lot of the time she wouldn't eat a bite. Since giving up her morning bottle this has really improved. She loves homemade soup and dh and I like them too so I make one most days - leek and potato, minestrone, vegetable etc. I add some mascerpone or creme fraich to hers to include more calories as she is quite thin at the moment.
She has what we are having for dinner - again portion varies - she likes things that are not too bland - I think that is where I was going wrong for a while, keeping meals too plain.
I really think it would be worth looking at her formuala intake. I was nervous about it as I thought if her appetite didn't pick up without the milk she would be getting very little but that has not been the case. I think they need about a pint at this age but you would need to check that.
DD is about 23lbs at the moment - just under the 50th I think.
Hope some (any!!) of this is a help.
