I'd never heard of BLW until I joined Mumsnet though was doing half spoon feeding and half BLW in any event as DS loved to grab my food and try to eat it or to take his loaded spoon and feed himself so started giving finger food.

Anyway, after having a look at the babyledweaning site, this eve DS had his first meal where he totally fed himself (mashed potato cakes with carrot, peas and sweetcorn and some banana). He loved it! And I've stopped freaking out about any gagging ... he's not choking! It's ok!

I just need him to understand that mashed spuds are not good for the complexion and rubbing them into one's face does not result in a healthy glow.

So thanks for the site - lots of helpful info

The best thing will be that I will no longer have to arse around making bloody purees and mashes and we will be able to eat the same thing (I had potato cakes too but did not rub them into my face. much)
