OK BLWers - "packed lunches" for 7mo mush-hater - ideas please!

I wasn't particularly "doing" BLW - DD gets mush, but usually some bits and pieces of whatever we are eating as well to keep her busy and give me a chance to eat my meal.

More and more she is refusing to eat the (nice, honest) mush and wants to feed herself.

So what on earth do I send to nursery with her for lunch?

She is almost 7mo, has no teeth at all, and it needs to be quick and easy as I have enough problems getting DS, DD and myself out of the house in the morning as it is!

TIA...

Hi Ex!
DS2 is 8.5mths, no teeth either. He has whatever we eat including sandwiches. He manages fine.

Thanks Lulu - some great ideas there (altough not sure I will be giving her houmous as I hate all things chick-pea related and can't even stand the smell!)

The problem is not what she will eat (all of that list, 9UT) but what I can easily pack for her - for example, she eats whatever veg we are having for supper, but by the time it was cold and in a lunchbox for the next day I doubt she would fancy it much..

My DS has all that stuff cold and in a box if we are out and about...why not try it at home first?

don't go into it with doubts, you might be surprised! dd adores cold veg from the day before mixed with a dollop of philadelphia to make it kind of like veggie coleslaw.

other ideas..
sandwiches (cheese/ham/tuna mayo)
malt loaf or plum loaf with cheese

Do you know how to make bananabread (without sugar). That is excellent for teeth free little weaners IME.

Thanks everyone. I will try her on cold veggies and also ask nursery what others bring so that I can gauge what their reaction is likely to be.

Have an excellent recipe for banana bread - DD adores it. Also bananas, bread sticks, lumps of cheese, chicken (actually any meat), brocolli (for the mess factor), carrot sticks, prunes & dried apricots....

cooked pieces of apple and pear.Take a few mins to cook, and can be kept a few days in fridge.Cucumber sticks, with peel cut off.Lots of stuff can be cut up the night before, and stored, then it's not so stressful in the morning.Apples don't go brown when they are cooked either!

My DS has had soup (I make at weekend and freeze in portions, the childminder just defrosts) and a sandwich (wholemeal and soft cheese spread). She rips up the sandwich and it gets soggy in the soup (if it has time before being munched!) He got on very well and now he is older with more teeth he is still loving it.. I think soup is great for adding vegetables, lentils and beans to their diet.
