to be eating at 10 mths. doing blw after dd refused spoon for anything other than yoghurt. still BF although trying formula once a day in preparation for going back to work as she still has a fair bit of milk. i keep saying "under1 just for fun etc" but just curious to see if you think this is a lot or a little for my dd to be eating (she said trying not to sound like an anxious first timer)

Breakfast - about 2oz cows milk and 4-5 tsp readybrek with pureed prunes or apricot mixed in

Lunch - slice bread with cheese usu of some description (eats about 1/3 - 1/2). whole rachels yog (100ml), 1/2 banana and few bits of other fruit to suck/gum

Tea - few pasta twirls or 1/2 small baked pot or remnants of our meal (slice meat and few veg). she mostly just plays with this sort of food. Rachels yog again and some fruit e.g 2 figs

just wondered what others were eating around this age. she is very chubby and certainly doesn't look starved. she's having about 5-6 small feeds in 24 hrs (including overnight ). when i try formula she will have 2-3 oz

sorry it's so long!

Doesn't sound a lot - little to average, I would say. My dd at her age was eating moer than her 3yo brother, and he was slim but far from skinny whereas she was solid but far from fat.

You say "small feeds" - they may be quick but you can't tell how much she's getting, clearly plenty! Let her floolow her appetite, she'll let you know if she's hungry. (THough a little bit of me wonders whether she'd take more solids if she wasn't being fed at night.)

Sounds about right to me. DS ate a similar amount I think (...she says desparately trying to remember back that far!). As long as she is bf on demand & offered solids blw style then you know she is eating to her own appetite & not over/under eating. Babies are supposed to be chubby at that age imo - they need all that padding for when they start moving about more (& therefore bumping into things!)...they soon slim down when they start walking/running about

dcb, i think it sounds fine, certainly not too much. my dd is 8 mo and is now fully ff plus blw - she has 4 x 6oz feeds and at least what you mention for breakfast, lunch and tea, if not more on an average day. she looks a bit of a chubster but her weight gain is consistent. terramum - i like your padding for bumps theory

thanks - i'm not worried that it's too much, but too little! the thing with blw i suppose is that she eats what she wants. i try to offer her lots of diff things and if she doesn't eat much then usu end up getting some banana out! she seems happy but i would like to stop feeding her at night. i always worry in case she might be hungry and end up feeding her - of course she loves it! it's also one of the reasons why i'm switching to frmula as i need to start "sleeping thorugh the night". do you think she could be hungry overnight at this age?

well i don't know much about breastfeeding as i never completely got the hang of it, but the amounts you describe sound impressive to me. dd never really took to yoghurt particularly so two of those every day sounds enormous, along with everythign else. it doesn't sound like you've a thing to worry about.
hope you can get the sleeping through the night thing sorted soon, fingers crossed someone will have a good idea on that front.

Formula is no guarantee to get her sleeping at night. At this age it's more likely that she's waking through habit, not hunger, and she'll still do that with formula.

That's sounds like quite a lot. But then I am comparing her to my dds who really didn't eat anything much at this age.

In fact it sounds like a healthy balanced diet.

sorry dcb - i was confused! you're right that with the blw she'll take what she wants - some days my dd has very little. btw, my dd didnt sleep through when i moved her over to formula so dont hold your breath, but good luck!

thanks everyone - feel reassured. dh has "taken over" the last 2 nights and she had NO MILK and is still alive, so won't be going down that route again I can tell you! she is also eating more at breakfast and taking more milk during the day. poor dh is currently in bed as i write this though.....
