Our blw story so far...

I just wanted to post this as there seems to be so many parents interested in blw at the moment.

We started introducing dd to solids the day she turned 6 months - and she wouldn't pick anything up. I had a health visitor ribbiting in my ear that as she's diddy anyways she was most likely starving, so I did (whispers) try a tiny bit of baby rice, and on a seperate occassion a tiny bit of sweet potato puree. She refused them both. We stopped for a week (sheer laziness on my behalf lol) and last weekend started again.

Since then she's eaten - cheese on toast, marmite toast, hot cross buns, rice cakes, peaches, pears, apple, yoghurts (I load the spoon and she manouveres her mouth onto it ) homemade carrot muffins, steak and cous cous, jacket potato and lemon and thyme chicken, chicken curry and garlic bread... to name but a few meals.

Even dh has turned around and said 'I think you were right with this blw malarkey' which if you've seen any thread about my husband constitues high praise indeed!

A quick thank you to the MN mums who are promoting blw, something I'd never heard of - I've been telling local mums about it and they're sold too. Watching my not-even-seven month old dd eat half a slice of marmite toast yesterday is convincing enough!

Sounds like you're enjoying it! My DF tells me how great a mum I am when he's drunk and fully appreciates the whole BLW thing!

It's hard not to get evangilistic about it isn't it? especially when you know how well it works!

woohoo!

D'you know, I really needed to read your post lunavix, because I really wanted to do BLW but DS has not been that great at eating much (he is 6.5m). So I have given him some organic 'baby cereal with fruit' (which turned out to be baby rice in disguise - aaagh!) and was just wondering whether I was wrong about BLW. I was contemplating going down the puree everything route, especially as I read an article in Junior Baby mag about how kids who are weaned too late never like broccoli, or something.

So thanks - I will stick with the BLW and stop being so blasted impatient

luna, i have also found your story helpful. started dd on food last week, none of it really being eaten but she loves slurping it and playing with it.
i too will be more patient!! oh, and i'd love it if she likes marmite toast - my favourite!!
