When (time of day) to give solids

Hi

I am a relative newcomer although I have lurked for ages.

I have just started to give me almost 6mth old DS solids. At the mo I am giving him purees at 10.30 and 2 ish with his 9oz bottle of milk. He also has a full bottle at 7am, 5pm and 7pm (he is greedy!)

I am wondering if I should carry on giving him the solids at his milk times and aim for solids at 7, 2 and 5 or intro a solid breakfast at eg 8ish and split the solids and bottles so he starts eating at more normal breakfast, lunch and tea times?

Can I ask you all how you managed it? At the moment it seems like this weaning business is so hard. You get them into a nice feeding routine and then it all starts again!

Thank you

IIRC, as long as they were just having tasters of foods then I tended to give them at roughly milk feed times, either before or in the middle of the feed depending on how hungry they were. I always gave new foods middle of the day-ish, and stuff they were used to in the late aftwernoon. As the range of foods and quantitiy they would eat increased, I gradually slipped into mealtimes, ending with them consum ing at roughly two-hourly intervals but not having milk feeds and solids at the same meal.

HTH - I need to refresh, as I'll be doing this myself in a month or two!
