This is not meant to be contentious. Just genuine interst. If you waited the 6 months was it actually 6 months or 26 weeks. Tia

Not till about 6 months with all 3. Ds1 wasn't interested in food at all and even when I weaned him he wasn't fussed. Held out a bit for ds2 who was a bit of a gannet. Ds3 was fine waiting.

Advice was 16 weeks with ds1 I think but I couldn't see any reason to.

17 weeks - dd was losing weight and still feeding constantly. We took it really gradually, but she has devoured every food I have ever put in front of her...guess she just inherited dh's appetite

20 weeks. I just set myself the target of getting as close to the magic 26 weeks as possible but he was up hungry so often that I gave in at 20 weeks

25 weeks which if I remember correctly was 6 months for us. He was totally ready then but not before, tried him at 17 weeks as paediatrician thought it might help his severe reflux, tried, no different, gave it up till 25 weeks. BLW a winner!

DD1 20 weeks I know because I waited until then whether she liked it or not(1999)

DD2 I'm not sure how old she was, I didn't really wean her, just let her have a bit of something if she grabbed it, I think she was coming up to 6 months-I'm a bit ashamed, really it just happened, I think I should know how old she was, it was only last year.

26 weeks on the dot. BLW. He managed to scoff a whole banana all by himself four days later, so I reckon he was ready!

dd1 - 17 weeks (2001)
dd2 - 17 weeks (2004)
dd3 - 25 weeks (last month)

Thought back in 2001/2004 that it was meant to be 4 months though told now that 6 months has been the guidelines for years. Don't know how I missed that one - might have been the information in your face on jars and in books (though I home cooked) which all seem to show a weaning program from 4 months. Must have been brainwashed!

ds1 was 20 weeks - he also weighted 20lb by this time for the record!

dd was 5 months

The guidlines said 4 months at that time

ds2 was 23 weeks. I had planned to wait til 26 weeks, btu he grabbed a banana and scoffed it so I think he was ready. Going down hte baby led route and haven't looked back!

DD1 started very gradual weaning at 6 calendar mths, introduced milk products at 10 mths and bf till she was 17 mths. Probably do the same with DD2.

DS1 at 6m.

DS2 at 27+3 - gave him a bit of banana.

DS2 didn't eat much till he was about 10mo though. And he thinks spoons are the work of the devil, so even if I wanted to feed him with one, he wouldn't have it. I offered him some ice cream today and he turned his head away as if I was offering arsenic. More for me though

Can't remember exact weeks that I started weaning. Ds was about 5.5 months when I introduced some mashed up veggies. He only had a few spoonfuls a day. He ate 3 'meals' a day from 6 months, along with his usual milk. Didn't cut milk down for another month or so.

DD1 - 5mths (2002)
DS1 - 5mths (2003)
DD2 - 5mths (2004)

The advice changed after DD1 from 4-6mths to 6mths but they were all ready and it was easy.

There are no prizes for spotting patterns in my answer
