Weaning

Confused now!

All I ever seem to do on this board is be confused about something so maybe I should just stop reading! DS has been happily blw since just before he was 6mo (was sitting and self feeding before 6 mo). He eats lots sometimes and almost nothing at others (although our floor is well nourished) but I haven't worried as I understood this is how blw works. Last week I was leant the 'contented little baby' weaning book which has worried me that I've been depriving him of essential nutrients. The book puts a lot of emphasis on the need to get a 6mo onto three full meals as quickly as possible as they will otherwise become anaemic. Now worrying that ds is not having sufficient iron in his diet and whether I should be doing it differently.

I know there are different approaches and did more purées with dd but I'm wondering if I've missed something in the blw method. I'm not keen to switch to purées with ds as he seems happy with what we're doing but don't want him to be ill. TIA for any advice

Long as he is taking his milk, don't worry. He's doing fine just as he is

Food before one, is just for fun

If he is bf you need to add vitamins after 6 months but if he is on formula he is fine.

Contented little baby book is that by Gina Ford? If yes put it in the bin so nobody else can read it.

You don't need to supplement if you are also bfing and he's still taking as much as before (unless you yourself aren't well). Vitamins and minerals in bm are very bioavailable, more so than those in formula.
