9 mo hardly drinks anything (milk or water)

9 mo DS hardly drinks any water and is down to 2-3 (very short) bf per day and is constipated as a result. He took to solids with gusto at 6mo and shovels it in like it's going out of fashion (blw, for the most part).

Any ideas on how to get him to drink more? He turns his head away from the boob if he's not interested in milk and different types of cups (sippy cup, open cup, etc) seem to make no difference with the water. He either turns his head away, or if I do manage to get any in his mouth, spits it out.

How about trying home made ice lollies, made with watered down coconut water? Or try a straw, sometime they'll drink a lot more with a straw. Try to give him water based foods like cucumber to increase his general fluid level. My Dc didn't drink much water while I was still bf, but they were having more feeds, so it wasn't really an issue for us! Hopefully there'll be some more suggestions soon.

Thanks, hadn't thought of ice lollies. Will try that. He may be too little to 'get' a straw yet, but I'll try that too.

He rejects cucumber (weirdly - what baby does't love cucumber?) and most raw vegetables. But he eats plenty of fruit.

Today he just had one bf when he woke up, and DH managed to get a bit of water into him after his dinner. He then had a micro-feed at bedtime (about a minute, or less). That's it as far as fluids go. And I know it's no where near enough milk, but I cannot get him to feed more - he just twists away and if I try and bring him back to the breast he gets cross and cries.

You can get a fair bit of milk into him via baby porridge, baby rice, cereal with milk, etc. Does he like to use a spoon yet? Soups and (possibly diluted) purees can be spooned too.

Yup, he's in to grabbing the spoon, and he eats soup, porridge, etc.

Place marking my lo is nearly 9 months and incredibly similar and also solid obsessed blw!
No clue how to improve it!
