BLW and frequent poo

My 7 months old DS rejects any purees or mash, but very happily chews on any food he puts in his mouth himself, so we doing BLW. Which seems to be going fine and he finally started swallowing some bits. However, since then he is pooing all the time. He does 2-3 big poos with bits of food, so I know that not everything ends up on the floor, but he also poos small amounts almost every 1-2 hours, including some pooong at night. I very rarely see wet-only nappy. Just wonder if it is normal, and his system is adjusting to food, or may be some foid intolerance? He is not bothered by that, happy, still breasfeeds loads, although his bottom is getting a bit sore... Any ideas if it is normal, or should I speak to GP? It's been like that for over a week now.

I was just about to post about exactly the same issue! Can it really be normal for there to be so much poo? My DS is 7.5 months, BLW for the same reasons as you and dirty nappies 2-4 times a day for about the last 3 weeks here. I also wondered if this was just a period of adjustment but like you say it is going on a bit. Hopefully we will get some experienced posters soon but just to let you know you are not alone!

My DD was like this when we started weaning. She is now 16m and on a fairly regular 2 poo a day routine :-D I'm sure it's just the body adjusting if they seem fine in themselves.
Might be teething too? My DD always poos a lot when teeth are coming through!

Thanks Cheers, good to know he is not the only one... yes mogle, I hope he is just adjusting, just don't want to miss anything. Had nothing like that with DS1, but they are very different in many things.

Oh my god my DD is 10 months and by crikey she does so many poos these days. She used to only go 2-3 times a week! It has settled down a bit now though and they're much more...solid 😷

I second the comment about teething. Mine pooed loads just before she cut her first two teeth. Think it's due to increased saliva being swallowed.

My 8 month old is currently on 4 a day-when she was 3-8 weeks old she used to go every 8 days!

Thanks all! At least good to know he is not the only one... it also seems that nearly all foods goes out the same as it went in - so different from what was with DS1, but here we go, every child is different! Just git so bored scraping his bottom so many times per day...
