8mo not weaning as vomits on purees and BLW! Any ideas?

I started trying to wean my DS2 at 5 months due to some weight loss (under advice from dietitian and HV). He hated purees and just gagged and vomited. So I've been giving him "melt in the mouth" finger foods - biscuits, mashed potato and soft chips. He's seen a lady from the speech and language team who had no idea/suggestions, just said to continue trying! As soon as anything gets to the back of his throat he just majorly gags, and usually projectile vomits, even when we think he's managed to get something down he sort of does this funny motion with his abdomen then vomits it back up. I rarely offer him food - maybe a biscuit every other day. He's now 8 months. Any ideas?

Have you been back to see the dietician and the HV? This doesn't sound like the kind of thing a bunch of mums can give advice on via the Internet.

For a normal baby doing self feeding, they actually spit out any food they can't chew down. So it doesn't matter if it melts in the mouth or not. It sounds like your LO have some problems and definitely needs medical advice.

They both just said to see what the SALT woman said, and she was bloody useless and a c complete waste of time. Said to just feed him skips and wotsits.

That's ridiculous. Have you been back to tell them what the SALT woman says? What's his weight gain like? Is he still following his line? Maybe that's why they aren't worried as he's still gaining weight from milk?
