Am I feeding my baby too much???

My DS is 6 months old and we've been weaning for all of 2 days but it's going really well. We're doing BLW and some pureed food. He's doing great with fingers food and takes food from a spoon (either from me or by himself). It was going so well that I've actually been offering him 3 meals a day. Is that too much for 2 days in??

I'm struggling to settle him at night. He's breastfed so always has boob before bed and falls asleep on the boob. For the past 2 nights he's had dinner at 5pm, bath and then bed between 6 and 6.30pm but he's taking the boob and the comes off crying and won't settle.

Have i fed him too much throughout the day? Should I slow it down?

I'd cut out the purée and let him feed himself (BLW) he seems like he's taken to it well, so leave him to decide what he wants.

If he's ebf then his gut will be getting used to processing food. He won't be used to it so you find him unsettled. Hence why I'd go with the BLW root as he'll manage his own intake - he might still be unsettled but this could be just his age and going through the many development leaps at the same time

Well the usual advice from NHS etc is to move to 3 meals a day by 8 to 9 months. So you have moved a bit faster than that.

I would cut back to 1 meal a day for a couple of weeks and let his digestive system get used to solids. Whether you do spoonfeeding with finger foods or baby led weaning, I think the early days of weaning are about offering a wide variety of flavours, colours and textures. It isn't so much about getting lots of food into them, and if you do BLW then it can take a little while for them to be able to feed themselves a reasonable quantity anyway. There's no rush really.
