Our LO is 10 months old and allergic to dairy and eggs. He has about 20 oz of milk a day plus 3 meals and snacks. He generally finishes what he is given. He is about 45th percentile for weight.

His nursery have commented that he eats a lot for a baby of his size, which we also think. He has at least 3 dirty nappies every day, which also seems a lot to me. I wonder why he isn't putting on more weight with the amount he eats. He has followed a line of the weight gain graph.

Should I stop worrying - does he just have a fast metabolism?

It could just be right for him. It's also hard to tell if he's developing correctly when you just have his weight centile. Really you need to see what his weight centile is too.

If he has those allergies, is he under a Paed and a Paed dietician?

Yes - though we've only seen her once, a few months ago. I don't know if it's because he doesn't have as many high fat dairy foods as non allergic children - she did say this could be an issue in the future. His weight gain has been steady but it just surprises me that he eats more than others of his age who are a lot bigger and who gain weight much more quickly. His height has also gained steadily but is slightly lower than his weight, but we are both quote short!

What does he eat in an average day? Is he getting high protein foods with good fats like salmon and sardines? Have you tried him with smooth nut butters?

It might be worth seeing the Paed again and seeing if there is a reason why he seems to each much more than his peers.
