Weaning

Is this normal?

We have been tasting foods for a few weeks now. DS is 6mo. A normal 'meal' is a couple of spoons of puree, a few sucks on a piece of very ripe fruit, a few sucks of rusk/bread and a sip or two of water. He wants to do everything for himself which is very messy! Drinking milk as normal. Is this normal at the beginning? Other babies I have met seem to be eating cubes and cubes. He seems to enjoy tasting things, just not eating them.

Same here. DD is still tasting stuff but it's mostly coming out of her mouth after she's sampled it. I know she likes the taste though as she was attempting to lick it of her bib the other day. Can't see she we be taking a lot more in a few weeks time - although she very quickly learnt to open her mouth for the spoon over a few days.

DS won't let me spoon feed him, he grabs the spoon every time.
