DS4 is 10 months old. He has development delay and a cleft palate so has always struggled with feeding. He drinks high calorie prescription formula (infatrini) from a special bottle that I squeeze to get the milk out as he can't suck. His weight is fine now, although he was underweight when he was younger.
We started weaning when he was 6.5 months old on advice of the paediatrician and dietician. 4 months later we haven't really made any progress at all. On a really good day he eats 1/2 a teaspoon of puree. I've tried BLW, runny purees, "solid" purees (eg mashed potato) and nothing works. It either dribbles out of his mouth or comes out of his nose.
The dietician said it was because infatrini is quite sweet he doesn't like solids but I've tried mixing infatrini with fruit etc and that made a tiny bit of difference (he ate 1/2 a teaspoon of it instead of his usual nothing).
Mil keeps making "helpful suggestions" mostly involving feeding him custard or chocolate which I don't want to do, especially as he's not starving or anything, he's still getting all the nutrients from milk.
Is there anything else I can do?
