You can freeze most things. Chilli con carne, curry, cottage pie, bolognaise sauce ect

Macaroni cheese freezes surprisingly well...

We do soup of every flavour and sort, steak pie, mince and potatoes, chicken stew, enchiladas, ratatouille and lasagne. I always have some frozen mashed potato and carrot too so it can be an add on to what we are having for dinner. I freeze leftovers also for DS.

Do you mind me asking how you cook from frozen? Do you microwave defrost or get the food out the night before and oven cook?

Just worrying about the microwave destroying the nutrients.

Annabel Karmel has a couple of great books for weaning (love or loathe her!) and tells you clearly which recipes can be frozen.

I sometimes get food out the night before but otherwise microwave on defrost and never had any probs. DS is super healthy so I hope it hasn't zapped too much!

A couple of things I found a great help:

  • Philips Avent food pots from amazon
  • a baby cooker / steamer
  • baby stock cubes from boots, very cheap and far easier than have to faff about making your own!

As a veggie I'm sure you will know good alternative iron sources but anything dark and leafy is good as it dried fruit, especially apricots (buy organic so they don't have the horrible orange sulphites)

I'm from the other view point, don't think you actually need any special equipment or books. BBC food have some great freezable recipes here.

We freeze all sorts, pie, pizza and pizza dough, beef stew, fish pie, cottage pie, chilli, korma.

You should be able to freeze most of these recipes too Smile
