DD currently having about 80mls in the morning and 200mls milk before bed, can anyone tell me what the standard is for a 1 year old? She's ready to drop the morning one imminently ...

What do you do with your 1 year olds for milk?

Also, in terms of other drinks, we just give water but she's not a great drinker... Reluctant to give anything else incase she starts refusing water all together. She eats a lot of fruit from which she gets a good amount of liquid.

About 350mls full fat cow's milk between 12 and 24 months iirc. You can count cheese and yoghurt in the total too, so maybe 100mls on cereal/porridge in the morning, 200mls at bedtime and some cheese or yoghurt in the day would be perfect.

Thanks Hettienne.

One more question, do you know if there is any value in using growing up formula milk instead of cows milk?

No value in it, no. Just a marketing con.

I would use full fat cows milk. Could you offer the morning milk in a lidded cup alongside breakfast?

Watching with interest. About to turn one..DD has 8 oz bottle in the morning and 7oz before bed. Thinking I should be putting one or both in a beaker..

Which would be better to do first?

Made an accidental change, MIL for some reason decided to give DD a bottle at 11AM yesterday thinking it was normal (hasn't had that bottle for ages!) she drained it, this make morning no milk on waking up, breakie with cows milk then at morning snack had her milk, only been 2 days but seems to be working... Always in a bottle but because she has all water in beakers feel happy she'll have it in a bottle if necessary. I think she finds the bottle comforting ...

My DD has one of the little tommee tippee flip cups (5-6oz?) with full fat cows milk when she wakes, and before bed; she usually leaves an ounce or so each time. She is always really thirsty when she wakes up and I give her milk, although I wonder if she should just have water and then milk with her brekkie a bit later? She eats yoghurt and cheese, and milk on her cereal so definitely getting enough dairy!
