Struggling with what to give my 8 months to eat

(7 Posts)

Risotto - so engines veg, sometimes meat

Mashed potato with fish and veg (peas/sweet corn/brocolli), fish pie, prawns!

Little bubble and squeak patties (normally to use up leftovers)

Pasta - big hits are tomato sauce, a nigella butternut squash and pasta stew recipe from how to eat made extra thick

Soups generally are excellent when served with bread dippers. I poach chicken thighs in water, use the liquid as stock and add veg, rice, lentils, split peas and barley and then the chopped up meat.

Meatballs - I make mini ones with lamb, spices and mint, then roast then briefly and finish cooking in a tomato sauce

Lamb tagine - diced lamb cooked in tomato spice sauce

Shepherds pie with potatoes and sweet potato topping

Pomme Boulanger have gone down well too (potatoes cooked in meat juices and stock)

Ds is 8 months too. He's eating a lot of avocado and banana. I spread the avocado on salt free rice cakes, pita, oatcakes or just toast fingers. Hummus is good too. I found a smooth salt free cashew butter that's really good spread on toast for breakfast. I've started trying him on bits of fish so he sometimes has tuna. If we have fish for dinner I keep a bit aside and make it into mini fish cakes with mashed potato and fry them.

What do you eat? You could do chunky soups and stews, and this may have some ideas to help inspire you.

Remember, a fruit/veg portion for her is the same size as her hand? So only four blueberries, two slices of cucumber etc!

My boy has always loved pasta (I presume you can get egg free pasta?), particaully spaghetti. Make a basic tomato sauce for it.

I am struggling with wht to give My 8 month old to eat, we're doing babyled weaning and abit of purree if she fancies it, she is allergic to dairy, eggs, sesame seeds and soya. sad

She loves fruit but after a weekend of bad nappies and tummy ache I realise I m probably giving her too much each day.

Any tips would be really helpful as I am struggling.
