Help! 8mo won't eat homemade food!

Hi there,

I have had a few problems weaning my 8mo DS from the beginning. Got gastroenteritis at 6months so would only take Ella's super smooth purée to begin with. Tried homemade but he just refused pointblank. He progressed onto Ella's stage 2 without any problems so started making homemade purées to give him. He just won't entertain them and cries and turns away so have to go back to Ella's again. I have tried a few times but always the same result. He will take toast, rice cakes and Weetabix ok. To be honest I think it's the texture but at nearly 9months I thought he would be taking mashed food.

Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to get him to take the homemade stuff? He can't stay on Ella's forever!! Do I just persevere with the homemade stuff and hope that one day he 'gets it'?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

Try mixing a tiny bit of homemade in with what you normally give your ds and see if he notices?
