The formula box say 300ml. DD is on more like 700. Should i move to cows milk now or cut down on volume?

from 1 year the recommended amount of cows milk is around 300mls. Does your dd eat other foods well or is she drinking milk at the expense of solid food?

She's not too bad at proper food but maybe i should pull her away from milk over load. So the formula for 1-2 years is just a con and she should switch to cows milk? Or is that 300ml cows plus formula?

Thanks btw!

yes growing up milk is a con and full fat cows milk is fine from 1 year

Agree. I'd start mixing the formula with cows milk. So if she has 200ml do 150ml formula and 50ml cows milk then gradually up the amount of cows milk over a few days until you've stopped the formula and she's only on full fat cows milk.

The NHS only recommend first stage formula until they are one, then cows milk. They don't recommend follow on or toddler milks at all.

What are her height and weight centiles like? If she is tall she might need more than the 300ml but 700ml does seem excessive.

What does she eat in a typical day?

Sorry should have said, its just 390ml of cows milk and no formula not plus formula. At this age the 300ml can include milk used on cereal and in cooking, like rice pudding, cauliflower cheese and fish pie too Smile

DS is 15 months and has about 700ml of cows milk per day, mainly at night.

He has a similar amount of water too. He is above 99.6th centile for height and weight (very tall family) so I just expect he needs it.

She's quite small. Tallish but tiny weight wise. Not totally sure on latest percentile but was around the 20th on weight last time i took her. And more like 50th on height so a skinny little thing. So i just tend to give her whatever she will take.

She has half a crumpet and some fruit at breakfast. Maybe a bit of sorrean too. Then lunch would be veggies and some lentil wedge with maybe cheese and some brioche. Tea probably mushrooms and eggs or something like that. Plus virtually her bodyweight in blueberries.

She can have off days on food so i wonder if that's too much milk.

Her milk is mostly night though so 240ml at bed and 250ml first thing. I reckon if i offered 300ml first thing she'd scoff it. Then 80-100ml after am and pm naps.

Sounds like she is getting her calories from milk rather than solids. Could you cut the morning milk and give her breakfast first instead? You could offer something that had milk in it like ready brek with chopped fruit or blueberry pancakes. Would she eat cheese on toast? Does she have a snack with her milk after her naps? I'd be tempted to put the milk in a sippy cup, if you don't already, and give her a little to eat.

My 15mo has around 150ml cows milk in weetabix in the morning and 200ml at night before bed. I only offer water at meal times and throughout the day to sip on. He has 2 weetabix with fruit in the morning then soup & bread or a sandwich, and custard with fruit at lunch then whatever we are having for dinner. His milk is part of bedtime routine.
