There's some info here on porridge fingers and how about rice pudding balls.

I just offered whatever we were having though. Dd had a roast dinner a couple of days after starting, she loved it! smile

Broccoli,
baby sweet corn,
Parsnip
butternut squash,
sweet potato
Toast
Pear

Good to start with nice veggies and then try chicken, fruit etc but you can do it any way round really. The more things they try the better

Porridge fingers are basically thick porridge left to go cold and set. Then sliced into fingers. I could never get them to set firm enough!

Everything Lombo said is good. Some other ideas:
Cooked carrot sticks
Cucumber sticks
Soft pear (peeled, sliced)
Cheese on toast
Crumpet slices
Soft bits of cooked chicken (some people wait a while before introducing protein)

Have fun! And invest in some bibs wink

Last week I offered my 6m ds a whole strawberry, a slice of melon, a cube of mango, and some buttered bread and cheese. He had a lot of fun putting it in his mouth, mushing then letting it fall out again. I don't think much was actually swallowed. I also wasn't sure where to start so just went with what was in the house. I'll be interested to see what else is suggested here...
Can't help with porridge fingers sorry!

DD is 5months old so im starting to think about weaning. When she's six months can I just start to give her finger foods, anything I put in her hands go straight in her mouth so I think she'd give it a go, what are the best things to offer first? What are these porridge fingers I've heard about? smile
