My ds is 7 months old and until now has been having Farleys porridge for his breakfast, when can he start having our cereal such as normal porridge (not sweetened) and weetabix?
Any advice gratefully received.

I think he can have weetabix now but not everyday. Just once or twice a week.

My dd loved that with a mashed banana.

Not sure about normal porridge though.

Normal porridge is fine from whenever you start solids. You might find fine-milled oatmeal easier though, as it's less lumpy? Depends how he copes with lumps.

I can't see why he can't have normal porridge now. My DS is 9 months and loves weetabix but it doesn't love him so he doesn't really get any. He enjoys Quaker Oat Crunchies though soaked in milk. They have some sugar in them and a little salt but not enough of either to concern me.Smile

Thanks for such a quick response! Will try the porridge tomorrow and the weetabix on Sunday.
Thanks again Smile

Sainsbury's Raisin Wheats are a major hit in this house. Mind you, despite containing no added sugar, they're ever so sweet. And they're nice for a baby to feed himself.

Was reading "Optimum Nutrition for Babies and Young Children" by a nutritionist called Lucy Burney, who advises delaying introducing of oats till 9 months if any history of allergies in your family - so tried DS on millet (a gluten free grain high in protein & amino acids, apparently Smile) this morning. He loved it and I have to admit it was really nice - mixed it with some formula and stewed apple & cinnamon.

Can definitely recommend it as a nice alternative to oats if you are worried.
