What to give a 7mo for lunch...?

I do a mix of BLW and spoon-feeding for breakfast and tea, but I'm not sure whether the lunch I give DD2 is ok

I need inspiration for lunches!

For brekkie she has ready brek and banana, and for tea she has mashed sweet potato/carrot/parsnip/whatever puree'd veg I get to in the freezer, mixed with a little milk and some crushed peas and/or sweetcorn for texture. She has toast fingers as well.

But lunch I really lose inspiration, as DD1 and I tend to have cold lunch, i.e. cheese or ham sandwich with grapes and mini cheddars.

DD2 tends to have some more ready brek and a yoghurt... is that enough?! I honestly can't remember what I used to offer DD1 (now 2.7)

I would give her a sandwich and some fruit, maybe not even cut up grapes yet but fingers of pear/apple/melon etc.

I know its not cold but a jkt spud with cheese and beans was my dd's fave, and if i could not be bothered with the spud i did toast.

My 7mo just had pasta with grated cheese followed by some apple puree with a sprinkling of cinnamon. She also likes small sandwiches, filled with cheese spread, grated cheese, hummous or tuna. She will also eat cheese or scrambled egg on toast, or strips of tortilla (the egg type, not the wraps). Or what about couscous? I tend to stick to mashed veg though, she has a habit of not chewing so I don't trust her with cooked carrot sticks or cucumber, but dd1 was happy to eat those by this age.

Scrambled Egg, toast, reduced salt and sugar beans? Cream cheese sandwiches, mash potato? Tbh at 7 months most will end up on the floor

brilliant, thank you ladies :)

She's currently throwing around a cheese sandwich and a few grape halves... the dog is having a field day!

Quick cook pasta is a winner here, it's on the highchair tray within 10 mins, I just stir through some butter/ cheese/ pesto or whatever I can lay hands on, add cucumber sticks or something et voila! Do a double portion and serve it cold the next day with a different sauce. Wink

My DS gets grumpy when soup is off the menu at lunch it's by far his favourite and I just make a batch and freeze it in portions so it's really easy.

Same problem here with lunches. Toast with grated cheese/apple, not a success here but DS not a bread fiend. Pasta with anything he loves. Omlette with muffin will sometimes go in...blimey I'm stuck already....I'm rubbish :O

I find DD2 is very frustrated! She tries to pick it up and stick it in her mouth, but either she pinches too hard, or the food is too soft or small, and it squishes everywhere.

She gets very annoyed very quickly and doesn't eat much - she's really going off spoonfeeding unless it's yoghurt...

I really don't remember such trouble with DD1!

Try offering larger pieces, so don't cut a banana up small just offer half a banana, that way she can grip more and choose how big/ small to bite/ suck off. Same with toast etc, just offer 1/4 bread size, not small cut up pieces

Here's a quick lunch:-

In a microwaveable bowl, half a small tin of beans (reduced salt and sugar), a sprinkling of cheese and crack an egg into it. Cook for 3 minutes (adjust depending on wattage of microwave) and every minute, take the bowl out and stir. Serve with a few toast soldiers. It is very good not that I have ever eaten it myself for lunch

Mine loves roast sweet potato chunks as finger food and toasted pitta bread with Philadelphia is a winner too.

Tinned mackerel mixed with Greek yoghurt on toast, oatcakes, rice cakes.
Mini pizzas - I use a scone base with mixed vegetable sauce and cheese (sauce is batch cooked and in freezer. Tinned toms, cooked with carrots and onions and blended. A multitude of used)
Omelette
Noodles, peas and slices of omelette (and soy sauce for me)
Pitta bread toasted with grated cheese/ thin scraping of marmite/ cream cheese/ pâté
If you have any weaning tins or pouches, they're a good pizza topping/ sandwich filling/ pasta sauce.
