I started weaning DS with baby rice last week in the middle of his morning and lunchtime feeds...he loved it! I have read that it is easier to incorporate the solids into their bottle feed times..can anyone tell me how they went about doing it? I tried giving him half of his bottle this morning and then his breakfast which he gobbled up but then didn't want the rest of his bottle.

I did milk and then solids an hour or more later e.g. milk at 7,11, 3, 7 and food at 8,12 and 5. I didnt do food with milk as i didnt want the milk intake to drop too rapidly.

It's much more important for them to have their milk than their solids until they are one. They need the calories and nutrients in the milk to help them grow and develop, that's why the recommendation is to offer the whole bottle an hour before the solids. Solids are more about exploring taste and texture (not much of either in babyrice though lol) and learning to eat as part of your family.

How old is your Lo? If Lo is under 6months he should have the recommended daily amount for weight, this information should be on the carton. If Lo is over 6 months, and you're not bfing, its 20floz of first milk per day.

Once Lo has reached one, you can ditch the bottles and its 300mls of full fat cows milk per day.
