Weaning

a meaty question

so...I've got lots of lovely pureed veg ice cubes in my freezer and all is well, but...

I would like to start adding meat now and am unsure how I can prepare it in advance to add to the already frozen stuff. I'd rather not cook up very small portions of meat each time and my DH and I don't have it every night so it's not just a case of leaving some extra, so..

Is there a way of cooking up meat/fish in advance and pureeing (sp?) it up to be frozen? It would need some kind of liquid added to it to make it thinner, so what would be best?

Once this batch of veg is used up I can start making it all up together, but I had a rather large puree making night recently and I've still got loads left.

DD's first meaty taste was chicken casserole, just fry off some onions and the meat, add enough water to cover, and some veg (like sweet potato, carrots, celery etc) then whizz up once thay have all gone soft and the chicken is cooked, you shouldn't need any additonal liquid. I wouldn't give too much meat first off anyway as can bung them up a bit, so I would recommend a cube of casserole and one of your lovingly made veggies mixed together. The casserole freezes fine (just make sure you are using fresh meat...)
For fish, you could make a fishy pie thing by poaching some boneless white fish and potato in milk and pureeing when done. Its nice to add cheese too if your baby has already tried it (otherwise I would just try the fish first on its own) Again, serve up with a cube or 2 of your veggies. You can make this in big batches too.

I had this problem with my ds, lots of veggie cubes but no meat. I'm veggie so didn't want to prepare or handle raw meat, BUT want ds to have meat as I know it's important. (I'm a veggie -mostly- because I can't stomach the thought of raw meat - although I'm fine with processes meats like sausages but I'm going off on a tangent!)

I found heinz do meat purees that you add to your own ingredients so although i'm not a fan of jars I have been using these to use up the veg cubes.

You heat the cubes in microwave, add half a jar (they do beef, chicken or cod) and I heat for a further 30 secs.

I'm plucking up courage to do a beef cassarole soon
