I've been microvolunteering (which is a name I hadn't of before) for some time, but didn't even know I was doing it, or should I say I didn't know it had a name..... until recently!! Microvolunteering is apparently about volunteering in small chunks of time for charities and nonprofits, where the task does not involve any commitment beyond the one you're participating in, and where it can usually be conducted from your own home (in your pyjamas, if you wish). With kids, OH + job for me, that's great, I think.
I've found a few websites that offer microvolunteering or bite-sized roles, and I thought I would share them with you, because some of us can't always attend (or want to attend, like me) a volunteering activity in person.
Some of the links below are non UK ones, but because the internet is the internet, they can still be participated in from anywhere in the world - isn't that marvellous. I hope you find these links useful:
helpfromhome.org/ - over 800 tiny actions on offer from around the world's nonprofits, mostly unskilled, online / offline, can be completed in under 30 minutes
skillsforchange.com/ - skilled bite-sized actions on offer from around the world's nonprofits, all online, can be completed in 10 minutes to 2 hours
