Hi

My ds, 7, has just started getting into Minecraft on my ipad. However, I need my ipad for work now so I thought maybe it was something his grandparents could get him for Christmas. We have a PS3 and a Wii (original version). We also have a PC.

Does anyone know, is one platform better than the other? I am assuming that as he set up an account he can switch between whatever we buy it on and the ipad (or not?)

Sorry, I know nothing about gaming.

Thanks for any advice!

You can get it for the PS3 and this is what my dd plays it constantly on. She also plays pocket edition on her kindle fire. They are not interchangable though.

Depending on how much of a geek your DS is, i wouldn't worry about the computor - my DD is going on about "mods" which can only be done on the computor (thankyou stampyfuckinglongnose). We don't have a pc and most lap tops don't have the right graphics card to cope apparently.

Help you understand it - errr, no - its all fecking pixles and gobledegook to me but DD loves it.

Following, DS has been playing on the iPad and I was wondering if it was worth getting the console version for Xmas.

I second the above, my boys play the Pocket Edition on their tablets but are desperate to get the full version. We are getting a PS4 for Xmas and Minecraft. We have numerous laptops at home and not one of them (ok slightly older) can accommodate the PC version...

TheoriginalLEM. Thank you. (And thank you for the reassurance that I will never understand it).

He's not too much of a geek so the PS3 will be fine. Do I just buy the game, is there anything else he will need (completely out of my depth here!)

I will ask DH when he's home tonight if you like?
DS (7) & DD(4) both play pocket edition on tablets (Hudl & iPad) - I'm clueless about it. DH has played it with DD, & he 'gets' it so much better than I do.
Mostly when DCs play & talk about it, my face looks like Confused

Just the game will be fine, if he's get to discover YouTube then you're ok, once StampyLongNose and iBallisticSquid get into your life you're doomed. Wink

Oh God, StampyLongNose's laugh Xmas Angry

Mind you, I could watch his Hobbit let's play endlessly. And DS frequently does.

We have a Wii but Minecraft isn't available on Nintendo, unbelievably, so we're buying DS a 2nd hand X360.

There are far too many consoles in this house now, but nothing DS likes is available on every platform. DH is happy, though, he's planning to rediscover his young adulthood when the X360 arrives.

We have a Samsung Galaxy Tablet actually which he uses sometimes but I always think that's too small to play it on (it's a small one).

Diva, any advice your DH could give would be gratefully appreciated. My DH Is refusing to even look into it Hmm

Titsalina - my son watches people opening packets of Match Attax cards on Youtube at the moment, so I am sure Minecraft will follow ...

Thanks all

My DD loves it.

We have it for the Xbox and for PC - I can't tell the difference

DD prefers the PC version to the Xbox version - blasted mods (I spent a whole weekend trying to work out those bastard things, thank you to the extremely helpful and lovely guy on the Sky broadband helpline for telling me what the hell I had to do!)

As for understanding it....yeah, good luck with that Grin

The PC isn't just better because of all the nerdy mods and such. The mouse is much better for navigating the menus.

Quick question:
Should I pay for a gift so that my DD uses it from her account?
