Is it cheaper to download wii games on the wii or buy them from shops?

Mum has just brought a wii & didnt buy any games with it. After playing around with it she found the Wii Shop Channel. I googled it & it says you can download games using it. Is it worth downloading them that way or is it better off buying them from shops?

You are better buying from shops, as it's a limited selection of games available on the Wii Shop, and the advantage with games from the shops apart from their being a much wider range, is that once you/kids have finished with them, you can sell them or trade them in for credit at game stores/cex etc.

The ones sold online are little tiny games or old games like you would get on a phone or Game Boy etc.

Hardly comparable with a shop bought title.

Theres a new wii coming out in the next couple of months. I'd always buy physical games as if you want to upgrade then the games will work in the new wii. I'm not sure what happens with downloaded them, are they just stuck on that specific wii?

If you are talking about the Wii-U thats not out until next year, it has no UK release date or price just a general Japan release area of fourth quarter of this year.

It's not a Wii, it's the next generation, a High Def console with a touch screen on the controller, altho it is meant to have backwards compatibility it may not be full, it's far to early to tell.

I don't know about Wii but on the 360 you only buy games once from Xbox Live, then if you buy a new console you have to piss around via the new 360 and PC tgetting them to transfer your console marker thing over so you can re-download all your games, you can re-download them all straight from live for free if you've transferred your account over to the new machine but they all appear as demo's until you get the console marker thing switched.

I expect it's the same with Wii, it's a similar thing on PSN, you only need to buy things once.
