Northumberland Caravan Parks - any opinions?

My kids have been begging to go on a caravan holiday for years! So we're looking at taking them to Northumberland at the beginning of July.

Hoseasons offers the following parks:

Springhouse Country Park, Hexham
Cresswell Towers, Morpeth
Whitley Bay
Riverside Country Park, Wooler
Sandy Bay, North Seaton
Waren Park, Bamburgh

Has anyone been to any of these? Where's good? Where's to be avoided?

Do you know Northumberland well?

Of the destinations you mention I would chose Bamburgh. THe beaches there are lovely. Huge expanses of golden sand, enormous sand dunes to roll about on. Crystal-clear water (though at limb-achingly cold temperatures. The castle there is fairly interesting and the village very pleasant.

Boat trips to Farne Islands are good (from the next village south -- beginning with S?); Lindisfarne is not far away.

Hi Threadworm. No, we don't know the area at all. Have heard lovely things about it though.

Beaches are a big attraction. We're not worried about sunbathing though. Quite happy to go in our wellies

I don't know the caravan parks but I am from the North East originally so:

Bamburgh is beautiful. Castle, beaches & also othe castles & beaches to visit. Craster is fun - we used to go there on school trips.

Whitley Bay is by the sea but more cheap n cheerful - lots of mock-tudor semis. Beaches there & at Tynemouth nice though. Not rural, only 10 miles or so east of Newcastle city centre, with metro (train) link.

Morpeth, Wooler & Hexham all inland, all rural, all lovely. Depends what you want.

Don't really know Seaton though I used to go to Seaton Sluice as a child (many decades ago ).

Think we're veering towards Cresswell Towers. Torn between that and the coastal lure of Bamburgh!

I am from there too and again dont' know about the caravan parks but would echo others and say Bamburgh is the most beautiful location of those you list.
