Anyone fancy helping me : Short break needed for non driver as close to West Mids as possible

I need something to look forward to and so do the kids. Things aren't great here at the mo, I am snappy, the kids are snappy and it is making me miserable.

So, i'd like to take them away, preferable for either a few days in easter hols or whit week. Their school have just put a complete ban on taking them out of school in term time.

We do have passports but flights for anywhere seem to always be at least £400 so that is out.

It needs to be something cheap and easy to get to from West Mids as I haven't passed my test yet.

Butlins would be ok but coach travel is a stupidly long time from here and trains aren't much better, plus i think their prices for schol hols are a bit beyond me.

So is this at all possible or am I dreaming ??

Craker, i have a Sun Holiday code - a holiday for four for £40, well, you end up paying a bit more - last years ours cost us about £120 but it depends on the place you go and what their surcharges are - we went to a caravan park in Devon and had a fantastic time. The remaining places might be limited but you can check on the website and if you don't like what you see you can pass the code on. You have to apply by Friday - I have a thread in chat about this right now, if you want it - its yours. Email me on flypusher1 at aol dot com.

ah, i see that you want a school holiday break? You may struggle to get that on the Sun voucher but its worth a shot - some of the breaks are Fri - Monday though so you could manage a day off or two?

I love the trains and my DD who is 3 loves trains too. They will probably get you to most of the resorts, but you have to shop around, you will be at how much the prices vary, even on the same line. The downside i suppose is luggage as you wont get any help on a train. Could you maybe get a lift from someone and offer petrol?

I just looked at the catalogue for the sun hols and they are mostly coastal, but some nice ones in north devon. Probably have a direct link from the midlands - just want to avoid changing trains i guess with the little ones.

Good luck, i really hope you find something, the code has your name on it until i hear otherwise today, if you are not interested, please let me know so i can give it to someone else - thanks

You could also try independent caravan parks if you are just looking for a base, depends what the children like - something near alto towers maybe? I bet alot of them have bus links etc.

REally hope you find somewhere - a lovely mnetter sent me their code last year and we had a great time (thanks, you know who you are!) Things were rough for us and it made all the difference - that is why this year we made sure we booked ourselves a break.

Thanks, but it is looking like the travelling combined with the dates I can do will be a problem.

Thanks so much for the offer though, it was really nice of you.

Hopefully this time next year I will be driving and my choices won't be so limited.
